Earlier this month, an inauguration ceremony took place at the International School of Lausanne (ISL) to mark the official opening of a new, widely expanded campus in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne. ISL is an international IB English language not-for-profit school, currently educating 820 students of 66 nationalities.
The new campus is the result of a Fr. 46 million investment by the school in a 2-year project, which has seen the floor area double from 11,300 to 23,300 metres square, and the total area of the campus increase to 42,300 metres square.

First featured on our site last December when the school was in the final stages of construction (link to article), Le Régent Crans-Montana College is now ready to open its doors to students! From 14 September 2015, the new junior section of this British International School will welcome students aged 5 to 13, following the Year 1 to Year 9 UK syllabus (1st to 8th grade).
To mark this special occasion, the Junior School held a press conference yesterday morning on 3 September 2015, in the presence of numerous figures from the worlds of politics, tourism, industry, academia, and the third sector. They included the actor, producer, screenwriter and photographer, Vincent Perez; the artist and patron of the “Moi pour Toit” foundation, Laura Chaplin; and the National Councillor and President of the Board of Trustees of the International Institute for the Rights of the Child, Christophe Darbellay.
Last week we learned the sad news that Muriel Lauvige had passed away. Muriel was the author of an innovative book for helping both youngsters and adults overcome the challenges of learning a new language.
Called “This is NOT a normal FRENCH book”, the book was featured on our site a couple of years ago. As a show of support for Muriel, her husband and her baby daughter we would like to help her family and friends get as many people as possible to buy her book, which can be purchased at Amazon, The Book Edition and Payot.
Written and illustrated by Muriel, the 56-page paperback was based on years of research and insight into language learning and education. Muriel had over 15 years experience of teaching French and working on education projects around the world with organizations such as Alliance Française and the United Nations.
With its own unique blend of text and comic visuals, this highly colorful publication does not fall into the usual category of books for learning French - indeed each page has been carefully designed to make French as easy and fun to learn as possible. It is filled with comic characters and ready-to-use sentences, and contains just 500 of what Muriel's research led her to conclude are some of the most high frequency words in French.

On 28 May 2015, the GEMS World Academy-Etoy international school inaugurated its new sports facilities with the support of both Olympic and young athletes. During an evening dedicated to "Sport in Action", which included demonstrations of swimming, basketball, dancing, netball, badminton, and fitness, athletes and students were able to show the entire range of disciplines available on site.
GEMS World Academy’s special display in honour of sport was an impressive occasion with a red carpet welcome, live music and the presence of famous sport personalities. The event was marked in particular by the vibrant speech of Jean-Christophe Rolland, president of the International Rowing Federation (FISA) and Olympic medallist. He shared his experiences with the audience, relating how he won the gold in Sydney, and recalling the importance of determination in pursuing his athletic goals and - more generally - in everyday life.

Nord Anglia Education and The Juilliard School have announced the formation of The Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Program, a multifaceted collaboration involving an innovative arts education curriculum for students in grades K-12.
As one of Nord Anglia's 35 international schools throughout the world, La Côte International School has been selected to be one of the inaugural schools in the program. From September 2015, students at the Aubonne-based school will benefit from a unique performing arts curriculum jointly developed by Nord Anglia Education and The Juilliard School.
Principal, Wendy Ellis, told knowitall.ch, "The curriculum has been designed to inspire our students with artistic ambitions and to enrich the creative skills of all students beyond the arts. It will give each student a “Creative Key” to unlock their imagination and creativity which is useful in all types of learning and in all walks of life."
