A new school, which opened recently in Lausanne, is now set to open its doors in Geneva too.

The Ecole Atlas Lausanne was set up in August 2013 by two teachers, Pierric Barbier and Jerôme Pitois, childhood friends who were “passionate about offering something special and original in the Lausanne region”. Located on the Route de Sébeillon, the new school is able to accommodate up to 90 students, aged between 11 and 20 years.  A variety of English-French bilingual programs are offered, aimed at preparing students for the International Baccalaureate, the Swiss Maturity (in French or bilingual English-French), or the French Baccalaureate (in French, or the international option).  These classes are mainly targeted at expats living in the Lake Geneva region.

Founder, Jerôme, told knowitall.ch, “ Our pedagogical concept is original and it aims at recreating the diversity we find in our multicultural society. Since we opened our school in Lausanne in August last year, we have had a huge amount of interest, not just from those living near Lausanne, but also others living further away in Geneva, so we have decided to extend our offering and open a new school there too in August 2014! Our school fees compare very favorably to other international schools in the region, offering similar programs.”

To provide individual teaching to its students, the school has developed a unique e-learning environment supported by an online video system, which is ideal for students who require a quick answer to their study problems, but is also suited to those who require longer term training in a particular subject.  To make a reservation, students simply have to visit the school website, choose a subject and time slot, and wait for their teacher to come online via the webcam.  The system is open to students from all schools, not just those from Atlas, between 8h00 and 21h00.

In line with its pedagogical aims to support the diverse needs of all students living in this region , Ecole Atlas Lausanne also offers adapted solutions for students with special needs aged between 8 and 20.  Ecole Atlas offers many solutions for its students: whether they suffer from a developmental disorder, from a physical handicap, from autism or are simply hyperactive or highly gifted, Ecole Atlas has a place for them.  Needless-to-say, ipads and laptops are widely used throughout the school to help individual learning in these cases.

Co-founder, Pierric, commented, “Our attention is permanently focused on these students, who are taught in very small size classes, alongside our other students.  Our programs and our schedules are adapted to their special needs and, if required, the students are supported by accompanying adults.”

In addition to supporting children with diverse learning needs, Ecole Atlas Lausanne also offers language lessons to private individuals or small groups, via its online video system, or in small classes.  Visit the school website for more information.
