Is your child thinking about a career in one of the creative industries? Do you want to find out more about the career options available to them, and learn more about how they can develop skills that will enable them to stand out from the crowd?
If that’s the case, and your child is now at the stage where they are starting to think about career choices beyond school, then you have the opportunity to find out more about the creative industries at a special FREE event being held in Geneva on the weekend of 10th and 11th November.
Organized by local arts school, ALLMINDS, the 2-day Careers in Creative Industries Event will enable young people aged between 15 and 18, and their parents, to meet professionals working in these industries and participate in a series of workshops led by leading universities offering courses in these industries. NABA Milan, Webster University, and the Paris College of Art will be supporting the event.
Organizer, Stephen Preece, told knowitall.ch, “This will definitely NOT be a hard sell 'come to our university' event. It is simply an opportunity for all of us working in the creative industries to share our knowledge base with those who may be considering a career in these industries.”
The event aims to be primarily active and practical, with FREE hands-on workshops being offered In a variety of areas including:
- marketing
- fashion
- journalism
- product design
- graphics
- video
- analytical drawing
- photography
Students interested in finding our more about any of the above careers should sign up for one of the workshops being held on each of these careers, on both days throughout the weekend. More information can be found at: www.admission.ch/cie
Participants will get the opportunity to work with a professional over the space of an afternoon. Since the workshops are being repeated over the two days, it is possible to sign up for a second workshop in a different field on the second day.
ALLMINDS runs a wide variety of courses, classes, workshops and other learning events at three different locations throughout Geneva. Courses focus primarly on Art, including subjects such as photography, life drawing, painting, pastels, fashion and, design. Most of their courses are suitable for learners aged 14 and above, although special activities are occasionally provided for children and young teenagers. Arts-related trips are also organized to London and Milan.
Asked why students should consider signing up for a course at ALLMINDS once they leave school, Stephen told us, “Modern educational institutions are often bound-up with the need to achieve examination success. Although ALLMINDS is not opposed to either academic rigor or excellence, we have the freedom to offer courses for enjoyment, to build confidence and to allow learners to be creative and learn by doing.”
He added, “We provide courses in arts-related subjects, which stimulate creativity, engage learners and, importantly, are fun and enjoyable. We help our students to learn by allowing them the freedom to experiment, try out new techniques and help each other to develop their skills.”
