Following the huge success of last year's Calendar for Hope, local moms, Nicole Scobie and Martine Rawyler, have produced a new calendar for 2014, which they hope will raise even more money than before!
Like last year, all profits from sales of the calendar will go directly to two Swiss charities, who work closely with families affected by childhood cancer: Force Fondation (www.forcefondation.ch) and ARFEC (www.arfec.ch).
In anticipation of the ever-increasing demand for her calendars, Nicole and Martine have printed 1000 copies this year. Last time just 200 copies were printed and there were so many orders that more had to be printed to meet demand!
Nicole told knowitall.ch, "There are 28 kids in this year's calendar. Some have finished their treatment and are in remission. Some are still in the middle of the battle. And some have left us. We are honoured to have all of these heroes participating this year."
Body Pass is a passport that gives you 50% off your first visit to participating spas and institutes. The passport is valid in Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Neuchâtel, Valais, Vevey, Yverdon; new this year: neighboring France and Zürich. Participating outlets include hairdressers, depilation, facial care, body care, massage, nails, pilates, and spas.
Go ahead and pamper yourself! Before you book your next massage or nail treatment, have a look at their website to see if your favorite company is listed. It won’t take long to pay off the price of the passport with all the savings you will make and soon you will be discovering new companies that you hadn’t considered before.
Cap Canaille, one of the leading providers of employer-supported bilingual (English/French) daycare centers in Suisse Romande, has just opened a new center in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne.
Located in the new Quartier Montjoie on the Rue du Champ du Bois 13, the new facility will provide “Educare” to over 90 children aged from 3 months to school entry age, for 50 weeks per year. With flexible opening hours from 6h30 to 18h30, the center should meet the exacting requirements of most local employers. An extended day program until 19h30 is also provided at a small additional fee.
Cap Canaille co-owner, Peter Zahnd, told knowitall.ch, “At Cap Canaille, we have had many years experience fine-tuning our educational care programs to serve the needs of local and expatriate children. At our existing centers in Morges La Gottaz, Rolle and Villars-sur-Glâne, we have always believed in providing clients, parents and children with the best possible in-class programs and services. Children’s play is an essential component of our programs, which are based on developmentally appropriate themes and activities geared towards the advancement of gross and fine motor skills, and which are suited to the different age groups, their abilities and interests.”
On 22 September, Geneva’s jet d’eau turned GOLD in support of kids with cancer! Following the article we wrote on our website, we have received numerous photos of the fountain, taken from various angles around Geneva. Below you will find some of the pictures we received, including some of the balloons that were released at the same time.
Anyone wishing to make a donation this month, which has been designated Childhood Cancer Awareness month, is invited to visit the website of the Cancer Kids Calendar, where you can pre-order this year's Calendar of Hope.
On 22 September, Geneva’s jet d’eau will turn GOLD!
Organized in support of kids with cancer, this special event will be one of many organized throughout the month of September, which has been designated Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
In the same way that ribbon colors have been chosen to represent awareness, it is hoped that gold will become synonymous with causes related to childhood cancer – a diagnosis that touches not just children, but family, friends and teachers, to name but a few.
