A neuromuscular dentist in Geneva has been helping clients overcome a wide range of painful symptoms, not normally considered treatable by dentists.

Neuromuscular dentist, Dr. Yves Delessert, has been using techniques such as muscle relaxation (TENS), electromyography (EMG) and jaw tracking to relieve discomfort in clients suffering with a variety of debilitating conditions such as headaches, tinnitus, temporomanibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and myofacial pain.

Currently the only DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) in Switzerland practising neuromuscular dentistry (NMD), Dr. Delessert explained to knowitall.ch, “NMD is a term applied to techniques that expand upon the traditional approach to dentistry, and considers the entire system that controls the positioning and function of the jaw. The neuromuscular dentist seeks to establish a jaw position based on the harmonious relationship of three main factors affecting occlusion - the teeth, muscles and jaw joints. The resulting jaw position is called the neuromuscular bite.”

I had the pleasure to join some women recently on what I call a “back-to-rhythm” hike. It was a group of moms that I know through various friends and it was a quick little jaunt up and down La Dôle. A morning out to signal to our mind and body that the school year had begun again and it was time for us moms to get back to more of a rhythm.

This group was of course a group of expat women, some have been here for a long time, others not so long. We managed to cover many topics, and several in depth, as one does when you live this sort of transient life. We were quick to get to the good stuff in a conversation rather than stay on the surface. In this lifestyle we are never certain how long our friends will be living in the area so we make the most of every conversation.

50% off all new subscriptions (excluding short term memberships) taken out before the end of 2014!

As part of their continuing drive to encourage the English-speaking communities of Geneva and Vaud to make full use of their extensive library lending services, The Library in English located in Geneva and The English Library in Vevey have joined forces to offer knowitall.ch readers a massive 50% discount off all new membership subscriptions taken out before the end of this year (including former members whose memberships have lapsed more than two years ago).

This means that at the library in Vevey, knowitall.ch readers need pay just Fr. 45.- for an annual adult membership, or Fr. 65.- for a family membership, allowing them to borrow up to 5 books per individual and 10 per family membership.  At the larger library in Geneva, the discounted rate is slightly higher at Fr. 57.- for individual memberships and Fr. 87.- for a family, including parents and children plus an au-pair.  In this case, each member may borrow up to 6 books for a period of 4 weeks, so a family may borrow up to a maximum of 30 books during the same period.

knowitalltherapists

At the beginning of this year, we received a number of emails from readers keen to recommend the services of local counselors and therapists, who have helped them come through challenging periods in their lives.

Two therapists, whose details arrived too late to be included in the latest edition of Know-it-all passport, are Eric Vandenhoeck and Robin Saunders, so we thought it might be helpful to introduce them to you now.  Another therapist, Tania Goudas, sent her details just in time to be included, but since her practice is quite new we thought it would be good to include some details about her services too!
