Fr. 5.- discount for knowitall.ch readers with their first order

When the Semaine du Goût came to Geneva in September, there was a lot of discussion in the press about the benefits of eating regional, seasonal produce.  Geneva, for example, has lots to offer in terms of local delicacies: “longeole”, “cardons”, “lentilles vertes et corail”, and "Almondgy" are just a few of the culinary delights that you can expect to discover after a few months of living here.

Given their uniqueness to this region, have you ever considered what you might discover in other cantons throughout Switzerland?  Indeed, each canton has its own particular specialities, many of which are unknown beyond their local borders.

It was this peculiarity of Switzerland's culinary heritage that led Swiss entrepreneur, Florian Corthésy, to come up with the idea for HelvetiBox, a subscription service that allows you to taste each month the unique specialities of a particular Swiss canton.

Knowitall.ch readers are being offered the chance to try out a range of natural wellness drinks produced in Switzerland using fresh spirulina, organic fruit and Alpine herbs (see offer at end of article).

Currently regarded as a revolution in the nutrition and health sector, spirulina microalgae are known to have outstanding nutritional properties, with long-term benefits that combine to combat stress and fatigue while at the same detoxifying the body and strengthening the immune system. They are also believed to aid weight loss and digestion as well as improve both hair and skin.

Generally taken in dry powder, tablet or pastille form, spirulina is now being produced for the first time as a fresh drink by the Swiss company, SpirAlps SA, based in Vétroz, Valais. Since the nutritional properties of spirulina are considered to be much higher when taken fresh, Spiralps drinks are a true innovation in terms of wellness and, crucially, are also much pleasanter-tasting than the dried form.

How often do you stop and wonder what's behind the food you eat every day…how it is made, who makes it and where the ingredients are sourced from?

Food labels in supermarkets go a long way to satisfying our curiosity about the provenance of the food we buy, but what about those special, authentic dishes you experience when travelling abroad or, very occasionally, when dining in a top restaurant with dishes produced by a locally or even world-renowned chef?

Recognizing a gap in the Swiss market for top quality food created with passion and with a story to tell, Italian entrepreneur and amateur food connoisseur, Luigi Matrone, has just launched a subscription service for authentic, curated fine food delivered directly to members' homes throughout Switzerland each month.  Set up with the help of 4 other Italian shareholders, Edmond’s Cuisine, is targeted at members keen to discover everything there is to know about the food they are eating, all of which has been sourced from small artisanal producers, carefully selected from different locations around the world.
