The Hotel d’Angleterre is getting into the Halloween spirit this month, with a series of spooky afternoon teas being held throughout the whole of October.
Replacing their traditional afternoon tea, the new Halloween tea will include a delicious range of finger sandwiches, an assortment of bewitching scones served with Gruyere Double Cream and home-made jam, Halloween themed homemade pastries, (including a meringue ghost and a chocolate witch hat…) and, of course, the hotel’s exclusive Betjman and Barton selection of black, green, white and red teas.
Priced at CHF 47.-, or CHF 59.- with a glass of champagne, the spooky afternoon tea is a real treat for anyone looking for an excuse to spoil themselves this month with family and friends. Held in the Windows restaurant between 14h30 and 18h00 every day, the Hotel d’Angleterre’s afternoon teas are famous in this region, not just for their delicious delicacies but also their spectacular views over Lake Geneva!
Lisa and I were privileged to be invited to one of the first afternoon teas held this month, and were not disappointed! The tea was so copious that we could have spent the whole afternoon savoring the abundant array of Halloween treats. Casper the ghost was definitely my favorite, along with the deliciously fruity "A Dance Under The Fountain" herbal tea, whereas Lisa was a huge fan of the scones, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside!
"What a great place to bring your girlfriends for a treat," she told our hosts. "You can spend literally all afternoon chatting and drinking tea, whilst marveling at the amazing view over Lake Geneva. I shall definitely be recommending it to my friends the next time we all go out together!"
To mark the end of their special Halloween month, the hotel will host a number of special events to accompany their final Halloween afternoon tea on Sunday, 2 November.
While parents savor a Halloween-themed afternoon tea, their children (up to 13 years of age) can enjoy a range of fun activities including trick or treating in the hotel rooms (specially prepared by the hotel to welcome the young ones knocking at their doors), face painting, a puppet show and balloon sculpting.
