Hotel-d-Angleterre-halloween1

Don't miss out on all the fun and surprises being organized for their special Halloween event on Sunday 2 November!

The Hotel d’Angleterre is getting into the Halloween spirit this month, with a series of spooky afternoon teas being held throughout the whole of October.

Replacing their traditional afternoon tea, the new Halloween tea will include a delicious range of finger sandwiches, an assortment of bewitching scones served with Gruyere Double Cream and home-made jam, Halloween themed homemade pastries, (including a meringue ghost and a chocolate witch hat…) and, of course, the hotel’s exclusive Betjman and Barton selection of black, green, white and red teas.

Priced at CHF 47.-, or CHF 59.- with a glass of champagne, the spooky afternoon tea is a real treat for anyone looking for an excuse to spoil themselves this month with family and friends.  Held in the Windows restaurant between 14h30 and 18h00 every day, the Hotel d’Angleterre’s afternoon teas are famous in this region, not just for their delicious delicacies but also their spectacular views over Lake Geneva!

In response to the growing demand for "slow food" served quickly, VAPIANO, has just opened its first restaurant in Geneva.

First created in Hamburg in 2002, this is the third VAPIANO in Suisse Romande, which builds on the success of its Lausanne and Fribourg restaurants. The menu is decidedly Italian, ingredients are all fresh, high-quality, mostly local and seasonal, and everything is prepared right before your eyes.

Taking up 700m2 across two floors that will accommodate more than 200 diners, and with a terrace that seats up to 96 people, VAPIANO is centrally located on the Place Saint-Gervais, near Manor and the Rhône river. The Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun is behind the conception of the space which uses Mediterranean touches such as an olive tree and herbs in pots to create a modern and welcoming atmosphere.

Following the promotion of the Hotel d’Angleterre’s recent photo shoot competition on our website, we are pleased to announce that one of our biggest fans, Anne Kerr, was the lucky winner!

Not only did Anne have the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with world-renowned studio photographers, Studio Harcourt, she was also invited with her husband to enjoy the Hotel d'Angleterre's famous afternoon tea, overlooking Lake Geneva!

You will never think the same way about what’s healthy and what’s not following the Alimentarium’s new exhibition, DÉTOX. Nutrition: What do you believe?, which just opened in Vevey.

The exhibition takes you on a journey through five different themes - Body, Nutrition, Diets, Beliefs and Milk - revealing nutritional beliefs stemming from Antiquity to those that influence us today.

Now that the Spring weather has arrived, many of us are stepping out onto the hills to explore the countryside and, if we have time, enjoy a freshly cooked meal in a local auberge.

Given the proximity of the mountains to Geneva, you really don’t have to venture that far to experience that feeling of “getting away”. For those living in the centre of Geneva, the Salève mountain with its handy cable car is literally on your doorstep.  Divided into 2 parts, le petit and le grand, the Salève measures 1400m at its highest point, so there is a real sense of achievement when you get to the summit!

If you’re feeling energetic, then there are numerous pathways, which wind their way up the mountain. You can either go it alone with your own map, or enlist the help of a local guide to direct you up the mountain. If you prefer the guide option, then we suggest you try out one of the free hikes arranged every Sunday by the organization AGAS (Association Genevoise des Amis du Salève).
