If you are are a parent and were asked what you would like for your child, most of us would place happiness at the top of the list. However, try as you might, happiness is not everlasting – life throws challenges at you that cannot necessarily be planned for or controlled. However, you can control your emotional strategies and skills to navigate challenges more successfully, and hence build your capacity to bounce back and maximize your potential for experiencing happiness.
Positive Psychology is the ground-breaking study of what makes us feel good, function well and flourish. Its research findings offer parents a new outlook on how to nurture children’s potential, find optimism and meaning in life transitions, overcome educational challenges and increase overall family wellbeing.

Health coach, Hiba Giacoletto, offers knowitall.ch clients an exclusive 25% off all programs until end March 2014
Some of you will recognize the name of Hiba Giacoletto as the new guest blogger in our food section. Since November last year she has been sending us various tips for recipes that are not only deliciously tasty, but healthy too!
However, Hiba is more than just a nutrionist – she runs her own health coaching business, Healthwise, helping clients to trust their body’s intuition so that they can make food and lifestyle choices that will enable them to look and feel their best without diets or deprivation. Recognizing that no single way of eating or living works for everyone, she uses her own unique blend of nutrition, psychology and coaching, to help people find solutions for losing weight, or simply feeling more energetic, in a way that work for them as individuals.
We have now updated our list of Christmas church services for 2013. If you would like to attend one of the many services happening in Geneva, Vaud and neighboring France this year, please take a look at the following list, which we have compiled from the websites of local churches. Some of them are French-speaking but most are English-speaking churches. Please check the websites before setting out, in case any of the times or locations have changed.
If your local church has not yet posted details of their services, please come back and check the article again later, as we will update the list when details become available.
If you know about other services in your area, please let us know.
Following the huge success of last year's Calendar for Hope, local moms, Nicole Scobie and Martine Rawyler, have produced a new calendar for 2014, which they hope will raise even more money than before!
Like last year, all profits from sales of the calendar will go directly to two Swiss charities, who work closely with families affected by childhood cancer: Force Fondation (www.forcefondation.ch) and ARFEC (www.arfec.ch).
In anticipation of the ever-increasing demand for her calendars, Nicole and Martine have printed 1000 copies this year. Last time just 200 copies were printed and there were so many orders that more had to be printed to meet demand!
Nicole told knowitall.ch, "There are 28 kids in this year's calendar. Some have finished their treatment and are in remission. Some are still in the middle of the battle. And some have left us. We are honoured to have all of these heroes participating this year."
