Since it was founded in September last year, the Nyon-based health service provider, Physiodynamis, has gone from strength to strength. So successful has the new company been, that it will move into new, purpose-built premises in Nyon later this year, enabling it to offer a wider range of physio and perinatal services such as workshops and classes for larger groups of clients.

Founded by Céline and Thomas Payot, Physiodynamis offers massage, osteopathy, and reflexology services, as well as specific proprioception services, athletic consulting, and nordic walking outings for pregnant women. For those clients looking for more support both during pregancy and after birth, the organization also offers the invaluable services of a doula. Visit the website at www.physiodynamis.ch to see the full range of services provided.

Celine told knowitall.ch, "Our goal is to support clients whenever needed, encouraging them to become more automonous and responsible for their own health. We work with people with all kinds of life styles and are committed to helping clients evolve on their own path of wellbeing, be that the improvement of their overall shape, fitness, strength or confidence."

One client, Joshua Berger-Paddock, told knowitall.ch, "Since discovering Physiodynamis massage and athletic consulting, I feel better, perform better, and live better. Each session is adapted to my current needs, such as alleviating pain, reviving and re-energizing or simply relieving tension. In each case, I always come away feeling great."

"Thanks to Physiodynamis, sport has gone from being a chore and a source of frustration to a key source of energy, health and joy in my life. Through a combination of risk assessment, realistic goal-setting and technique sessions I have experienced performance breakthroughs I never imagined possible – especially given my busy family and work life."

Another client, Pavla Foley, who enlisted Celine’s services as a doula, had this to say about Physiodynamis, just a week after giving birth to her second son, Thibaud: "When Celine first introduced me to her activities as a doula I was a little skeptical to say the least. This was my second pregnancy and all seemed to be going well. I thought that the doctors in Switzerland knew what they were doing, I was fine with my gynaecologist and couldn’t see the benefit of having a doula. I knew very little about the real role of a doula and even wikipedia's explanation of a "female servant" from Ancient Greek did not really give me reason to think this was something I needed. However, Celine's passion for the subject and my own curiosity made me accept the offer. So from triathlon friends we became "partners" and had several "professional" sessions looking at different topics such as my first birth, birth plan, best birthing positions, and choices for birth. We exchanged information after my visits to the gynaecologist, she accompanied us for the visit to the hospital and we had a wonderful post-birth visit last week with advice on breast-feeding and behavior changes of our older son. I remember feeling a little overwhelmed when we returned home but after having Celine over for a few hours I felt really revitalized and full of positive energy. She prepared us a lovely meal, cleaned up, and helped with the laundry, which might seem banal, but for us who don't have family here, it made such a great difference."

"It is hard to explain the benefits of a doula - it is such a personal experience and will be very individual for each person. From my perspective it was simply the psychological and emotional support she gave me throughout this time that was of enormous value. Yes, I could chat with a friend, my sister or my mum over coffee about my feelings and birth fears, but the knowledge and training a doula has cannot be compared with talking to family or friends."

Given its large client base of future parents, pregnant women, and young mothers, Physiodynamis has seized the opportunity to help reduce the detrimental impact of both disposable and reusable diapers on the environment. A new series of workshops targeted at potential buyers of diapers for their babies has been launched, which will not only help to conserve natural resources and decrease pollution, but will also lead to significant costs savings for families as they make huge steps towards reducing the amounts of unwanted waste they produce in the community. Given that an average baby uses 6000 or more diapers before it becomes toilet trained, it is easy to see the enormous benefits that such a program of workshops has to offer!
