The online toy shop, All For Kids, is closing its doors after nearly 20 years of invaluable service to English-speaking families living in Switzerland.
Since Robin Bognuda first launched her company as a mail order catalog business all those years ago, she has gone out of her way to source some of the most creative and inspiring products that you will ever find for children. She has striven to find items that have been recommended by teachers or families but aren’t readily available in the stores here. Quality has been a top priority for her, so most items featured on her website have won awards.
When Know-it-all passport editor, Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman, first heard the news about the closure, she told Robin, "I am not sure if I should say “sorry to hear that you are closing” or “congratulations on such a valuable service you have provided for the last 20 years and now you can sit back and enjoy your life”!"
However, the good news is that all Robin's stock must now go, so she is offering an incredible 50% off all items featured on her website until stocks last – and that includes the last 5 copies of the new 10th edition of the Know-it-all passport that she currently has in stock! So if you haven’t yet bought your copy of the guidebook, or would like to offer it as a gift to someone else, then don’t waste any time ordering one from the All For Kids for site, because they won’t remain in stock for long!
We have a great, last minute offer for our readers from Body Pass, the discount scheme which gives members immediate access to 150 of the best spas, institutes and hair salons in Switzerland and neighboring France – all at half price!
Instead of the standard price of Fr. 95.-, knowitall.ch readers need only pay Fr. 75.- for the pass, which means that it will virtually pay for itself after your first treatment!
Not only does Body Pass make an ideal treat for yourself, saving you 50% on all further treatments booked with the pass - it makes a perfect Christmas gift for family and friends!
Just enter the promotional code "noel2017" when ordering the pass. Delivery is guaranteed before Christmas on all orders placed before this Thursday, 22 December at 15h.
A new book has just been published showcasing the work of contemporary artists in the Lake Geneva region.
Produced by the Fondation Lémanique pour l’Art Contemporain FLAC), Guide Contemporain III presents the work of around 375 artists and art groups – including visual artists, photographers, designers and performers – as well as information on 123 places dedicated to promoting the work of local artists. Published in the form of a handy, accessible guide aimed at broadening the public’s attitude to contemporary art, the book includes 288 pages, most of them illustrated with photos of local works of art, and provides a tribute to the exceptional vitality of contemporary creative art in the Lake Geneva region.
Broadening its scope
After two editions focused on Lausanne and its conurbations, it seemed only right that the latest edition of the “Guide Contemporain” would head down to the end of the lake this year, to include the work of talented artists based in Geneva as well.
Sophie Rogivue, President of the FLAC foundation, told knowitall.ch, “With many collaborative projects now taking place between Lausanne and Geneva, such as training opportunities, special initiatives and exhibitions, it has become increasingly difficult to separate the work of artists from both ends of the lake. So it made more sense this time, to include Geneva in this latest edition of the book!”
British-Swiss mompreneur, Lizzie Crudgington, has just launched a crowdfunding campaign to help her in the final stages of producing a new story-telling app perfect for expat and multilingual families where parents travel a lot, or loved ones are absent - indeed, the closest thing you will find to story-telling in person!
Called StorySnap, the new app will allow you to create personalised children’s e-books and audiobooks with the extra-special warmth of narration by you or your loved ones.
Anyone supporting the new Kickstarter campaign, which was launched at a special breakfast event in Geneva on 6 November, will have exclusive, early access to the Beta Version of the app, which should enable them to record a selection of stories for FREE in time for Christmas (more details below).
