Asked how she got into the business of selling cake supplies, Elena told knowitall.ch, "When I learned that Ana was looking for someone to help her continue the Genevacakes' adventure, I was really interested. As a regular customer of the shop, I soon learnt about Ana's plans to sell her business, so we discussed and agreed on a transition, which finished in August 2014."
She continued, "Like a lot of people, I discovered cake design when I needed to bake cakes for my kids' birthdays. I like all creative arts, and cake design is great as you eat your creation and don't have to store it... What I like the most, is that even 2 years after the shop opened, there are still people coming into our shop saying: "This is just the shop I was looking for!"... Customers often come in the shop with photos of what they want to do, and we discuss the details together."
She concluded, "What makes us special is the huge range of products we offer at affordable prices. We listen to our customers and advise them in the shop or online. Our edible prints, made to order, are particularly popular for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries and, from our experience, we can advise what works best for each customer's individual cake needs."
For maximum convenience, you can buy Genevacakes products online at www.genevacakes.ch and get them delivered directly to your home - Elena ships within Switzerland Monday through Friday, and orders completed before 12h30 are shipped on the same day. However, if that is not fast enough for you, you can always pop by Elena's shop on the rue de la Navigation in Les Pâquis. The shop is open Monday through Saturday, and doesn't close for lunch.
As an enthusiastic baker, Elena is keen to pass on her knowledge of cake-making to her customers, so organizes regular workshops covering cupcakes, cake pops, flowers, fondant modeling, and cookies, some of which are in English.
