greycoat interviews

The international nanny consultancy, Greycoat Lumleys, will be coming to Geneva on 5 and 6 September to interview and register prospective nannies for a wide range of fantastic international jobs in Geneva and surrounding areas - plus the rest of Switzerland, Europe and beyond!

Any experienced nannies, housekeepers, governesses, or maternity nurses who are looking for a new position either in the immediate area or further abroad should send their CV’s to Greycoat Lumleys as soon as possible.

Lina and Elvie, two of Greycoat Lumley’s top consultants, will only have a limited number of interview slots during their two days in Geneva, so it is important to get yourself organized and contact the agency early if you don’t want to miss out.

If you're looking for an exercise program that increases your strength and flexibility, whilst alleviating back and joint pain, and helping you to control your breathing and manage your stress levels, then pilates is probably for you.

However, there are many different pilates instructors in the region, so how do you go about choosing the best one for you?  One of the easiest ways is to take advice from a friend, and in the absence of a friend, take a look at the Health & Wellbeing section of our Know-it-all passport guide, where you will find numerous practitioners not just for pilates but other disciplines such as yoga too.

0ne instructor who has recently been recommended to us, and who will feature in the new edition of the guidebook, is Johdi Woodford of Little Bird Pilates.  Johdi provides a friendly, professional and dynamic approach to pilates training that provides results without pain and discomfort.  Whether you're a top athlete, a busy new mum, or a stressed out office worker, Johdi will strive to help you to improve your performance and build your body from the inside out.

If you’re heading off on holiday this summer and haven’t yet found anywhere suitable to leave your pet, then Buki’s Pet Paradise may be just the place you’re looking for.

Located in Lausanne, this small pet care and boarding “hotel” for cats and dogs was set up in March last year by local psychotherapist, Tania Goudas. Mourning the recent loss of her beloved English bulldog, called Buki, Tania was keen to spend as much time as possible with animals and found the perfect solution in Buki’s Pet Paradise!

Brought up in the USA with a home that had a big yard, Tania became attached to animals at a very young age and spent much of her time sneaking in small animals until her parents agreed to larger ones. She's owned dogs, cats, horses, bunnies, ducks and hamsters, and feels strongly that loyal animals provide a welcome refuge for humans.

A new concept has just been launched to help reduce the stress and tension experienced by employees working long hours at their desk, thereby reducing absenteeism in companies.

Called “yog-A-ttitude”, the new concept is the brainchild of Florence Boehlen, a yoga teacher who has recently set up her own company, yoga l'essenCiel, in Rolle, Vaud.

Explaining the new service to knowitall.ch, Florence told us, “This concept has been created for companies whose employees work long desk hours in demanding professions and who often have poor sitting postures combined with high levels of stress, which can lead to various physical and psychological disorders. Yog-A-ttitude aims at improving the employees' overall wellness by relieving physical and mental stress, thereby preventing various ailments and negative consequences on the work force's health. The ultimate goal is to prevent and reduce absenteeism in companies, while maintaining well-being.”

Since we wrote our recent article about English-speaking dentists in Geneva, we have had a number of requests via our website, to receive our list of recommended doctors and Healthcare providers practicing in Geneva, Vaud and neighbouring France.

As our readers know, we only provide information on businesses and services that have been recommended to us, or that we have experienced ourselves, so this list does not cover all medical practitioners in the region. For this you should consult a phone directory. However, if you want to find someone with a proven track record, indeed someone recommended to us by one of our readers, then you should ask for a copy of our list.

Going to the doctors and dentists can be quite a scary experience for many people, so it is not surprising that, even armed with a list of recommended practitioners, you may be tempted to put off making an appointment until the last possible moment. However, this need not be the case. Many of the professionals on our list have years of experience working with nervous patients and, indeed, one dentist on our list positively encourages them to visit her!
