parentssurvival

Do you fancy a relaxing night off, away from the children – perhaps a romantic dinner for two or an evening out with friends in Geneva? Do your kids complain when you get the babysitter in, because they can’t have the same amount of fun as you?

Recognizing the need for both parents and their kids to have an entertaining night off from each other, The Little Gym in Geneva has come up with the perfect solution, which will enable parents to go out on a date whilst their kids amuse themselves at their own party!

On 2 Fridays every month, this popular activity center for kids is now organizing “Parents’ Survival Nights”, where parents can drop off children for 3 hours in the evening, safe in the knowledge that they are having lots of fun with their friends.

Following the successful launch of her first crèche in Gland in 2012 (read our article here), owner Barbara Lax has now opened a second crèche in Morges, operating on the same educational principles as the first.

Located close to the autoroute junction, at the Lake Geneva Park in Tolochenaz, the Little Green House has its own private garden, and is surrounded by a large park – the perfect situation for a center that places a high emphasis on healthy living and respect for the environment.

Cap Canaille, one of the leading providers of employer-supported bilingual (English/French) daycare centers in Suisse Romande, has just opened a new center in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne.

Located in the new Quartier Montjoie on the Rue du Champ du Bois 13, the new facility will provide “Educare” to over 90 children aged from 3 months to school entry age, for 50 weeks per year.   With flexible opening hours from 6h30 to 18h30, the center should meet the exacting requirements of most local employers. An extended day program until 19h30 is also provided at a small additional fee.

Cap Canaille co-owner, Peter Zahnd, told knowitall.ch, “At Cap Canaille, we have had many years experience fine-tuning our educational care programs to serve the needs of local and expatriate children.  At our existing centers in Morges La Gottaz, Rolle and Villars-sur-Glâne, we have always believed in providing clients, parents and children with the best possible in-class programs and services. Children’s play is an essential component of our programs, which are based on developmentally appropriate themes and activities geared towards the advancement of gross and fine motor skills, and which are suited to the different age groups, their abilities and interests.”

A leading nanny and babysitting agency has opened up a new franchise in Switzerland, filling a gap in the local market for childcare recruitment.

Called Rockmybaby, the new business was set up at the end of last year by Tanya Jeannet, a Swiss national who was born in South Africa but moved to Switzerland 5 years ago, where she now lives with her husband and two little girls.

Tanya told knowitall.ch, “With two young daughters of my own, I know only too well the challenges of working and having children. I am determined to provide a service to families that will help make life a little easier and make them feel confident in the care of their children, whilst allowing them to have some well-deserved time out for themselves.”

A new crèche has recently opened in Mies, catering for both the local and international community of the Lake Geneva region. Part of the Bébébiz group of kindergartens, which includes 15 crèches throughout France, the new nursery is located in a newly converted, bright and airy space, measuring 500m2, and is conveniently located just a short drive or train journey from Geneva.

Featuring hand-painted murals with inspirational themes aimed at awakening the creativity of the child, the new crèche is able to cater for 44 children, divided into 2 groups: 24 children aged from 4 months to 2 and a half years, and 20 children aged from 2 and half years to primary school age.

BabyBestFriend websiteA new website has been set up in the Geneva area, designed to help parents and families find the best child care solution for their needs.

Called Baby Best Friend (www.babybestfriend.ch), this comprehensive online platform, aims to put parents in touch with independent child-care workers, who can be selected according to a range of different criteria.  You can indicate, for example, whether you require a baby sitter, nanny or day care mother, where you live and what language you speak.

Browsing the database contained within the website requires no registration and is absolutely free. The database provides a short profile on each candidate, excluding their full name and contact details. Once you find a potential candidate, you are asked to register for membership in order to obtain the contact information and full profile details for all baby-sitters, nannies, day-care moms, etc. on the site.

Explaining why she decided to set up the website, Baby Best Friend founder, Yasmina, says, “ Given the high number of families moving into and out of the Geneva area, it is clear that many of the traditional support networks provided by extended families in the last century do not exist for many families here. This is often due to relocation from one's place of origin due to work, but can also be due to marriage or just simply life's circumstances.”
