FETE DE L'ESCALADE - CANCELLED
Saturday 11 December 2021

[UPDATE - CANCELLED FOR 2021 DUE TO NEW COVID-19 RULES]

The Escalade festivities will take place from December 10 to 12, 2021

The Committee of La Compagnie de 1602, through its president Jean-Marc Barberis, announces today the organization of the celebration of the Escalade and the 419th anniversary of the victory of the Genevans over the troops of Duke Charles-Emmanuel I of Savoy. The festivities will be held from December 10 to 12, 2021.

The celebration will begin on Friday evening with the moving Cortège en Hommage aux victimes. From that moment on and throughout the two days that follow, the public will see the magnificent costumes of the members of the Company of 1602, organizer of the Festival. Various performances and stands will animate the streets, sites and esplanades of the Old City.

The festivities will end on Sunday at the end of the day, once the night falls, with a great historical procession starting from the Parc des Bastions. This procession will go around the Old Town, through the Saint-Gervais district and will end with a unique Proclamation at the Place de Neuve.

In order for this edition to take place properly, the Committee has taken a series of decisions aimed at guaranteeing the health safety of its members and spectators.

The Committee of La Compagnie de 1602 thanks the cantonal and municipal authorities, the faithful sponsors, partners and supporters. We salute their commitment, and we thank them for standing by us to allow the organization of an event so dear to the heart of the Geneva population.
