An information session will be held this Thursday to inform the public about a historic event that will take place in Rolle next spring.
With two days of festive entertainment planned for 4 and 5 June, Rolle 1900, Ah la Belle Epoque, will transport the town of Rolle, into the famous era of “the Belle Epoque”!
Everyone, including both residents and non-residents of Rolle, is invited to take part in the inaugural edition of this annual festive occasion, which will see the Grand Rue and port areas of Rolle transformed beyond recognition. With so many special animations planned for this momentous occasion, the organizers are inviting everyone from artisans, boatmen, singers and lace makers through to hairdressers, actors, shopkeepers, and cooks to join them at a special meeting to see where their skills can best be put to use throughout the festivities.
So, whether your talents lie in playing music, painting, arranging flowers, teaching history, or simply getting creative (the list is endless), come along to the château's Salle du Conseil Communal at 19h00 on Thursday 17 September to find out more about how you can get involved.
Both associations and individuals are expected to join in the fun, decorating the city, proposing animations and creating traditional costumes that will give true meaning to Rolle’s well-deserved title ,“The Pearl of Lake Geneva”.
At the time of writing the following animations are expected to take place at the event, but undoubtedly many more will become apparent during the course of the information evening:
- an exhibition of pictures of the Belle Époque, from various collections, and in particular that of the Musée de l ' Elysée
- light music concerts, including comic or romantic songs
- extracts from operettas (portraying Parisian life, etc.)
- dance numbers from the period (Polka and the French can can)
- animations by Circassian artists
- games for children
- artisan demonstrations
- food-tasting
- competitions
- a large costume parade
