KNOW-IT-ALL PASSPORT GOES TO PRINT!
Three of the winners in Know-it-all passport’s recent amateur photo competition had the chance to visit local printer, Imprimerie Nationale Rochat-Baumann, to see the first pages of the book come hot-off-the-press!
Fabien Scotti, Steven McDermott, and Dana Cosio-Mercado were just three of the eight winners chosen from nearly 250 entries for the competition. Their photos will be used as section separators in the new 7th edition of Know-it-all passport ® 2011/2012, which is due out at the end-of-August this year. For a list of all the winners and the categories they won, click here.
After a visit through the pre-press section, the winners were shown how the printing film is developed on an aluminum sheet. Once the ink has rolled over this sheet, the ink is transferred to a rubberized drum roll and then printed on the paper (right-side up). This photo shows a section of the brand-new 5 color press that the Imprimerie Nationale has recently acquired.
In the photo you can see Steven using a cutting machine to trim some paper.
In addition to being invited to the view the printing of the book, each of the winners will receive two copies of the new edition.

Jenny and LisaThe new version of the community website, knowitall.ch, was launched officially on the 20th April at the Chateau de Penthes in Geneva.

Over 60 people attended the launch, which included a presentation of the website by Lisa Cirieco-Ohlman, editor of Know-it-all passport, and Jenny Jeffreys, freelance website designer.

Used in conjunction with the popular guide, Know-it-all passport®, the new website aims to keep the community up-to-date with the very latest information on a wide range of topics including schools and universities, winter activities, daycare facilities outings and trips, indeed anything that cannot be included in the guide due to its bi-annual publication dates.
