CHATEAU DE PRANGINS: ROLE-PLAYING GAME
From Tuesday 27 April 2021
To Sunday 02 May 2021

The Château de Prangins has dusted off its basement and now presents a brand new exhibition for families in the form of a role-playing game with the themes of travel in Switzerland and means of transport from the 18th to the 20th century. This is a unique opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in the Switzerland of yesteryear and take a journey through very different landscapes. The inauguration will take place on October 11th from 2:00 pm during a big party for families with many games and animations (free entrance).

Museums: boring, dusty and too serious places? Absolutely not! For the first time in Switzerland, a museum is offering a permanent exhibition in the form of a role-playing game specially created for the very young public; two levels are available in four languages (F/D/IT/E): one for children from 4 to 10 years old and the second for children from 11 years old.

The exhibition puts the visitor at the heart of the process. The result is an immersive experience that is different every time depending on the choices made during the game. Depending on the options taken, the course can last from 5 to 20 minutes per character!

Surrounded by authentic objects from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries - some spectacular like the Pictet sedan, others very meaningful like a cardboard ship model, patched children's shoes, various board games or a few souvenir plates - the player will slip into the shoes of a nobleman inspecting his large estate in a horse-drawn carriage, a young English girl passing through Switzerland on her way back from the Grand Tour - that famous training trip reserved for young people from good families - or a child from Ticino who went to Milan to clean chimneys... He will experience a trip to Switzerland out of pleasure or necessity.

Each visitor will be able to play a total of nine characters from three eras - the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries - who travel by the means of transport of their time: first by stagecoach and boat, then by train and steamboat.

A station platform with a music machine and clock, a pier with a souvenir kiosk or a funicular station: these evocative worlds are reminiscent of waiting areas, places that are a must for any journey...
In addition, games in the form of manipulation await the youngest: a stereoscope - the ancestor of 3D vision devices - an interactive funicular model - or a postcard turnstile with useful clues for the game!
