In view of the latest decisions taken by the canton of Vaud, we will continue to have a “virtual” setting for our next event on 20th April 2021 which will be offered as a webinar.
As we did with our virtual events held in 2020, we are adopting an exceptional fee structure for this event and we are combining this with a fundraising initiative to show solidarity with our local community.
We kindly ask you to help BPW Lake Geneva to support an excellent local cause, the WISH Foundation, which stands for ‘Women in sciences and humanities’ whose goal is to support women in STEM, especially at EPFL to encourage them to continue their research and pursue their dreams.. Every donation makes a difference to fulfilling their goal: The world needs science and science needs women: https://www.epflwishfoundation.org/
How will this work?
· There is a basic charge of CHF 10:- for both members and guests for participating in this webinar - this money will go to the WISH Foundation in the form of a donation from BPW Lake Geneva.
· You may if you wish pay more than this nominal fee, thereby increasing the total amount of funds that BPW Lake Geneva is able to donate on your behalf to the WISH Foundation – simply tick the appropriate box, indicating how much you would like to pay.
We hope that we can count on both our members and guests to support this initiative and support the WISH Foundation.
Going forward, please let us know if you have a cause you would like BPW Lake Geneva to donate to for future events.
Event topic: Truth, lies and your leadership
Being able to determine if your business counterpart is lying or being truthful is an important and valuable skill for the workplace; detecting deception can often make the difference between success and failure in a negotiation, business deal, or hiring decision. But doing so is not always easy or straightforward. This difficulty is particularly true given that much of the common wisdom on the markers of lying versus truthfulness is often misguided and lacks a foundation in the rich body of research on deceit.
In this session, you will be introduced to several verbal and non-verbal methods for detecting deception in those you interact with. We will also explore ways that you can prevent yourself from lying to yourself and others.
Professor Jennifer Jordan will provide expertise from her work with executives and her original research into this fascinating topic.
