LITERACY IN THE PRIMARY CLASSROOM – REMOVING BARRIERS TO PROGRESS
by Patricia Spencer, Oak Hill Head Teacher

This seminar will outline the key elements of reading and writing in the primary years, and examine some of the difficulties children may encounter as they strive to become literate and engaged learners. A selection of strategies and resources to assist parents/guardians will also be explored.

Suitable for parents/carers of primary aged children. This presentation will be ‘live’ via zoom. Upon completion of payment, a zoom link will be sent to participants.

Patricia is an experienced primary and middle school teacher who has held classroom and learning support positions in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Switzerland. She has a particular interest in reading/writing development and the challenges students with dyslexia encounter in the mainstream classroom. Patricia is certified with The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) and along with other Oak Hill staff, works with parents and professionals to promote effective literacy/numeracy practice.
