HIROMI - PIANO SOLO | |||||||

Victoria Hall Geneva
Hiromi must have a special kind of brain to imagine the music and be able to transcribe it instantly on her keyboard. A prodigy of technique and virtuosity, Hiromi Uehara (she chose to abandon her surname for the stage) seems to have tamed the piano as a child, before going on stage with Chick Corea at just 17 years old. Arriving at the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, she soon met the legendary Ahmad Jamal, who is the fourth man she readily quotes when she talks about her piano gods: "I love Bach, Oscar Peterson, Franz Liszt and Ahmad". We add, by her own admission, a pinch of influences from big rock bands and... athletes who go to the end of themselves, and we get the irresistible and overflowing personality that Hiromi is, a maestro of 88 keys! |
