Local businesses in the sports industry and its related supply markets are now getting ready for one of Geneva’s biggest sports events of the year: the International Sports Convention 2016.
Taking place on 7-8 December 2016 at Palexpo, Geneva, this biannual event will combine 15 different conferences with a major exhibition spanning 80002m, and is expected to attract around 2000 delegates from about 80 different across the world.
To encourage business within the various sports sectors represented at the convention, the organizers have planned a series of networking events over the 2 days. A mobile networking app has also just been launched that will give attendees the opportunity to network before they even arrive at the event!
Speaking at a recent press conference to announce the event, ISC Managing Director, Nigel Fletcher, told knowitall.ch, “We want the International Sports Convention to be an inclusive event, accessible to everyone working in the sports industry, regardless of their budget. That’s why we have set up a range of affordable packages for delegates, depending on how involved they want to be, or how early they are able to buy their tickets."
Building on the success of previous ISC Events, which have taken place in Amsterdam (2010 and 2012), and in Geneva (2014), this year’s convention includes a special involvement from the Ville de Genève, who will be encouraging local sports associations to get involved. So, whether you are a working as a coach for a local football team, are running sports camps for kids, or have your own sports retail outlet in the region, there is sure to be something that will interest you at the convention.
At the time of writing, the following conferences have been planned for the event:
- Football Coaching & E-Learning

With such a varied range of topics on the table, the event is expected to attract around 150 high-profile speakers, who will inspire conference delegates with the latest trends, developments, best practice and current challenges in the industry. 95% of the speakers will come from Sports Governing Bodies, Associations, Clubs, Federations, Leagues, Broadcasters, Media Organisations, Rights Holders, Cities/Regions, Universities/Education Centres and leading Service and Agency Providers.
The quality and diversity of speakers will clearly have a knock-on effect for the Exhibition, which will, in addition, bring together around 100 organizations, suppliers, and producers, as well as Federations, National Associations and other Governing Bodies, who wish to talk to conference delegates and exhibition visitors about sport!
Once again, the organizers are keen to appeal to everyone working in the sports industry so, depending on overall objectives, company sizes and budgets, the stand prices will range from €1,000 to €30,000.
Claude Membrez, General Manager at Geneva Palexpo, told knowitall.ch, "We are very happy for the conference to take place in Geneva again, especially when you consider the potential it has for Geneva’s economy. Switzerland is the home of many sports’ headquarters and hosts many international sporting events, so it seems only natural that Palexpo be chosen again for this 4th convention, being in the center of Europe, near a main airport, and offering quality facilities."
