The countdown is on for one of Europe’s most anticipated and lavish annual fundraising events, the Geneva Charity Ball (GCB). With this year’s "Red Carpet" theme, the 2016 Ball looks set to be one of the best gala events yet.
Hailed as “a must-attend event on the European expatriate social calendar” by The Telegraph, more than 300 guests, amongst them leading figures from the worlds of business, finance and media, are expected to attend this year’s event, which is being held at the Grand Hôtel Kempinski in Geneva on Saturday 30th April.
Featuring a glitzy champagne reception, a gastronomic dinner, auction, and luxury raffle as well as live music performances and a DJ, the Organizational Committee is hoping to raise a record-breaking amount of money for the GCB’s two Geneva-based children’s charities: Paidos, a Swiss NGO helping distressed teenagers reintegrate into society; and Clair Bois, the largest institution for poly-handicapped children in the canton of Geneva.
Prestigious sponsors for this 5th gala event include DeVere Switzerland (diamond sponsor), Dorier, Aston Martin and Real-Events. Several partners have also offered their services to support the occasion including Pernod Ricard, Ipac Design Geneva, Koller, Dukascopy Bank, Grand Hôtel Kempinski, Colucci Design, Largo, Pangloss, Ease Your Day, Resound Web Media, and Photopro Event.
Rhythm and swing
This year the Geneva Charity Ball stage welcomes the special musical talent of Casey Abrams. A renowned singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and American Idol finalist, Casey will present his new EP, “Tales from the Gingerbread House”, with a unique unplugged performance. The evening will be hosted by Katt Cullen and Steve Priestley, two popular presenters on WRS’s Mid Morning Mix and DriveTime shows.
Live auction led by Maison Koller
Numerous items have been generously donated for the live auction by Aston Martin, Bucherer, Montreux Jazz Festival, artists Stéphane Ducret and Christophe Mandallaz, Lalique, and various hotels. The most impressive item is undoubtedly a piece of lighting art specially created for the auction by the Geneva designer, Claudio Colucci, crafted and built with the expertise of the Lemantek laboratory and sponsored by Largo. This artwork alone has resulted in nine numbered and signed pieces for the auction, all 100% swiss-made.
GCB President, Adeline Gautier, told knowitall.ch, "Now with 13 members on its committee, the Geneva Charity Ball was originally conceived in 2011 by several professional expats working in Geneva, who had a strong sense of charity and community responsibility. The GCB committee is made up of volunteers, whose mission is to provide support to local charities via monetary contributions and targeted actions. Our mission is to raise funds throughout the year, with the most significant amount of money being raised through the live auction and raffle at this gala event.”
She added, “This is a great opportunity for any corporations, organizations, and individuals willing to network and communicate amongst a prestigious and international audience of more than 300 attendees. When you take part in the Geneva Charity Ball, you are not only attending an incredible gala event; more importantly you are rallying to the cause of the supported charities and their dedicated actions. It is a personal investment, which follows our motto « Having a good time, doing good». So far, we have raised over Fr. 210,000.- since the Ball was created, and we hope to deliver a record-breaking year in 2016!”
Tickets are priced at Fr. 225.- and can be purchased from the Geneva Charity Ball website until Tuesday, 26th April.
