Children from the age of 5 are invited to spend the day testing toys and give their verdicts as part of the evaluation process in the Suisse Toy Award 2011.
On Friday, 29 July, the Balexert Center in Geneva will host a day of testing in which children can evaluate a variety of toys in various different categories and register their preference for a particular toy. The center will be one of two in the country inviting children to test out the toys, and will be welcoming testers near the Migros Restaurant between 10h and 18h.
This year there will be 7 categories: Babydreams (small children up until the age of 3), Little Kids (children from 3 to 5 years old), Girls (girls from 5 to 10 years old), Boys (boys from 5 to 10 years old), Learning & Creativity (children from 5 to 12 years old), Electronics (children from 6 years old) and Family Games (all ages). Family Games is a new category that will be tested by families at 21 ludothèques throughout Switzerland.
According to the Association Suisse des Jouets (ASJ), the Suisse Toy Award is the only competition in the world where the consumers, in this case children, decide the winners! Clearly anyone looking to buy a toy for a young child will find the results particularly useful when making their choice – last year more than 15,000 children throughout Switzerland were involved in testing 100 toys – so the results are fairly representative!
Anyone not able to make it to the Balexert Center will also have the possibility to evaluate the toys online at www.suissetoyaward.ch - or at the second testing center on Wednesday, 27 July in Bern (next to McDonalds in the Westside shopping center.) This time, with the initial round of testing finished at the end of May, children will be able to choose from among 18 different toys: 3 for each of the main categories, excluding Family Games.
