A new delivery service has just been launched in Geneva, which allows customers to receive deliveries from neighborhood stores in under an hour… including Sundays, where places are open!
Developed by enthusiasts of technology and convenience, 2yourdoor.ch went live in November 2016. Since then, the site has grown rapidly with new shops and product offerings being added on a regular basis. Today, the site allows customers to order more than 40,000 products from around 250 locations in Geneva (restaurants, supermarkets, grocery stores, butchers, Halle de Rive, bakeries, pharmacies, florists, etc.)
Asked what inspired them to get into the delivery business, the founders told knowitall.ch, “We are passionate entrepreneurs with years of experience in big multinational corporations and lots of expertise in customer service, sales, digital marketing, and e-commerce. With our entrepreneurial mindset and relevant experience, we felt we could create something of value. There is a need in Geneva for a service of this kind and we felt empowered to address the current demand."
A unique service
So what makes 2yourdoor.ch special? Marketing Manager, Darya Gunay, commented, “The uniqueness of 2yourdoor is having the most diverse delivery options under one platform and getting all of the products listed delivered in less than 1 hour. Services of this type already exist in the United States, however, 2yourdoor is the only one in Switzerland.”
She continued, “2yourdoor unites customers, runners (people who do delivery) and stores/merchants with an Uber-like technology and ground operations. Customers are people who do not have time for simple errands; runners are people with more available time and who need extra money; stores/merchants are the enterprises who want to grow their business with no extra capital investment. 2yourdoor is the platform to fulfill the needs of all three parties. We are basically not selling products, we are selling time and convenience back to people so that they can spend their time doing what matters most to them.”
How it works
As soon as an order is placed, the nearest runner (from the pick up point) accepts it, goes to the selected store, picks up the goods, makes the payment on customer's behalf, and delivers to the address specified, be it home or office under 1 hour. There is no minimum purchase amount or hidden fees. Customers know exactly what they pay for the products and the services provided. The customer can choose to get delivery either at the earliest time (maximum 1 hour) or to schedule it at the time and date that suits him/her the best. It is possible to follow the status of the order and the runner's location in real time.
All operations are simple and transparent: customers are debited only after the delivery is finalized and pay the exact price of the store with the store receipt declared by the runner as if they went to the store themselves. Customers have the option of paying online via the secured system, Stripe (second largest in the world after PayPal), or in cash on delivery.
Future plans
For the time being, 2yourdoor.ch is operational only in Geneva and the immediate surrounding area. However, the service is expanding rapidly so you can expect to see more 2yourdoor runners outside Geneva in the near future. At the time of writing, the weekly average number of orders increased 40 times versus the same period in December 2016 with 97.5% of them achieving their time promise.
Darya explained their plans, “In the near future, we plan to extend our service to include additional products and services such as the delivery of laundry and dry cleaning. We would also like to offer more of a general courier service. After we have Switzerland covered, our aim is to expand into the rest of Europe!”
