Bergli Books has just launched a new publication, which is likely to prove highly popular with fans of mindful coloring, a new movement that is currently taking the publishing world by storm. With more than 100 million mindful coloring books already sold worldwide, this artistic movement has typically been dominated by digitally-designed editions printed in Asia.
However, with its hand-drawn designs featuring the landscapes and culture of Switzerland, The Big Swiss Colouring Book: For Mindful Adults and Creative Kids is the first Swiss-themed book of its kind and, as such, is likely to have huge appeal to budding artists of all ages, indeed anyone attracted to life in Switzerland!
Three British art teachers living in Zurich are responsible for bringing this international publishing phenomenon to Switzerland with 80 pen-and-ink designs inspired by the country they call home. All three are currently teaching at the Inter-community School Zurich in Zumikon.
Scientific studies have demonstrated that mindful colouring lowers anxiety levels, and yet Janet Howell, Caroline Little, and Joanna Moon created this book primarily for another reason: to help adults and children engage with the majestic landscapes and vibrant cultures of Switzerland. Years of experience in the classroom helped the authors create designs of landscapes (Lavaux Vinyards, Matterhorn), buildings (Botto’s Maggia church, Freitag’s Zurich headquarters), costumes (Appenzeller headdresses), and customs (Basel Fasnacht) that foster a deep connection to the world that inspired the designs.
Printed and bound in Switzerland, the new book is now available in bookshops across the country, or online at Bergli.ch. It is available in three language editions (German, English and French), each featuring a trilingual picture index identifying the images. The Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper is perforated so each page can be removed and shared with others.
