Héritage Genève offers knowitall.ch clients 10% off all items purchased before the end of February, 2013
A new boutique has just opened in the old town of Geneva, selling luxury, hand-crafted items for the home. Called Héritage Genève, this stylish boutique reflects the rich cultural heritage of Turkey, with its array of hand-made cushions, art collectables, home textiles and scarves. All of the products on display feature original contemporary designs and have been created using traditional fabrication techniques, originating from Turkey.
Owner, Elif Beleli, told knowitall.ch, “As clients enter our store, they will immediately wonder how many craftsmen, designers and creative people it took to make these masterpieces. Hand-crafted in Istanbul, Turkey, all of our goods are designed to be handed down from generation to generation, appreciating in both value and distinction. Our goods have great appeal for customers who are looking for something unique, rich in cultural heritage, which they are not likely to see elsewhere in Geneva!”
Although Héritage Genève opened only a few months ago, the idea to open a shop in Geneva came a few years after Elif moved to the region with her family in 2006. Having realized their personal dream to set up their own finance company in 2011, Elif and her husband have had the opportunity to travel to their home town of Istanbul frequently on business. It was during these visits that Elif developed strong contacts with many of their current suppliers, including one of their most famous selected brands, “Yastik” by Rifat Ozbek, a famous Turkish designer. “Yastik” means cushion in Turkish.
Elif told us,”We were blown away by Rifat's pillows, especially when we discovered just how original they are. Each one of them is hand-made with authentic material such as ikat, suzeni, and velvet, and is scented with a hint of lavender. Lavender is known for having positive effects on the mind, so it is easy to see the benefits of relaxing on a sofa decorated with Yastik cushions, made by Rifat Ozbek!"
Believing that there was a potential market in Geneva for his exotic line of cushions, Rifat enlisted the help of Elif and her husband to introduce his range in Switzerland. As Elif's company was one of the sponsors of this year’s Red Cross Ball, which had an Istanbul theme, she took the opportunity to showcase some of Rifat's cushions, and was very impressed by the positive reactions they received, especially from those who were fascinated by the rich culture of Turkey and all it has to offer. So she and her husband decided to pursue another dream – to open their own Turkish cultural heritage store!
So they opened their new store “Heritage” in the old town of Geneva, a location steeped in history and architectural interest. On the ground floor, their 230m2 boutique is dedicated to art collectables as well as their popular Yastik collection. On the second floor, they plan to create an art gallery or a space that can be used for other cultural events. From time to time, they would also like to invite upcoming artists, writers and musicians to come and share their art as well as do book signings. See below for upcoming events in December.
Asked what makes her boutique special compared to other art-déco boutiques in Geneva, Elif told us, “Every item we sell is a limited edition, and has been hand-crafted with a rich cultural background. You may find one or two objects that are the same if they are part of a set, but generally everything is so unique that it would be impossible to find a similar object elsewhere. We want to share with Geneva our passion for introducing rich Turkish heritage to the world – we feel the same passion for our products that the craftsmen had while creating them. Héritage Genève is not your ordinary art-déco store but more of a palace where creativity has no limits!”
Indeed one client told us, “I came across ‘Héritage’ whilst walking up Rue du Perron in the old town. The intriguing window displays became a dazzling array of Anatolian designs and motifs when I stepped inside. Everything from the building’s original architecture to the ornaments on sale reflect cultural symbolism and blend together in harmony”.
To encourage more new customers to try out their products, Elif is offering knowitall.ch clients an exclusive 10 % discount on all items bought in her boutique before the end of February. Just mention this article on knowitall.ch to claim your discount. Thank you, Elif!
