Jim’s British Market has just launched a new website, www.jims.ch, that will now enable customers in Switzerland to order a large selection of their British-sourced goods online!
Coming just a couple of years after they launched their second retail outlet in Gland, Switzerland, the new website will enable Jim’s British Market to serve an ever wider customer base than before. No longer will clients have to drive hundreds of miles to stock up on their British groceries – instead they can order them online from the ease of their own home, and get free, next-day delivery on orders above Fr.100.-!
Jim Anderson, joint owner of the family business, which he opened with his wife, Margaret, in St.Genis-Pouilly, France in 1996, told knowitall.ch, “At Jim’s British Market we have always prided ourselves on our personal and friendly service, so we didn’t want to launch our online business until we were absolutely sure that we could maintain the same level of service that our clients have come to expect over the last 17 years.”
He continued, “With the help of our new IT Manager, Chris Pettipiere, we have spent months fine-tuning our new online website to make sure the shopping experience is as close as you can get to buying goods directly from our shop – but with the added convenience of delivery straight to your door!”
Customers purchasing goods through the website are entitled to the same loyalty discount as those buying goods in the shop – except that when you register online for the first time you receive 10 points towards a possible 15 points needed to claim Fr. 20.- discount off your next grocery bill. With one point being added to your loyalty account for every multiple of Fr. 30.- spent on the site, it is easy to see how quickly you can accumulate enough points to claim your discount!
Jim is offering free delivery on all orders over Fr.100.-, up to a maximum of Fr. 500.-. Orders below that amount will be subject to a small fee to cover the costs incurred by delivering goods via La Poste. All orders placed before midday on Monday to Thursday can expect next-day delivery – but if you are not able to make this deadline, you can still place your order through the site and request collection directly from Jim’s shop in Gland.
Jim’s British Market is now open 7 days a week in Gland and stocks over 1,600 different product lines. Store Manager, Steve Jones told us, “ We are constantly updating our product range and supplementing our stock with new product lines as and when they are launched in the UK. Indeed, we encourage customers to tell us if there is a particular product that they cannot find in our shop, so there is really no excuse if you cannot find what you are looking for at Jim’s!”
For those customers living in France, Jim’s British Market is still very much active in St. Genis-Pouilly. In addition to the ever-increasing range of British groceries on sale, there is a small tearoom, popular with locals and expats alike, at which you can order British favorites such as full English breakfast and fish ‘n’ chips, as well as delicious home-made pies, cakes and scones!
The Guy Fawkes Bonfire & Fireworks Party at Jim's shop in St. Genis Pouilly is, without doubt, one of the greatest traditions in the region for the expat community. Taking place in a couple of weeks on Saturday, 2 November, this year's party looks set to be no exception! In addition to the usual large bonfire, which begins at 18h00, there will be a wonderful fireworks display starting when the firemen arrive. There will also be a large selection of hot food and drinks for sale.
