After a busy period of end-of year activities, and even busier start-of-year preparations, many people often feel lacking in energy at this time of the year, unable to spring into life as the warmer weather arrives.
It’s at this point that you need to consider taking some time out for yourself, leaving your busy life and “to do” list behind. So what better idea than to head on a local mountain retreat where you can literally “drop into your body”, move, stretch, explore nature and the natural environment, and most importantly relax and unwind?
Tanya Perret is a mountain guide and Yoga teacher with her own small business called Live Breath Hike, which offers just that: weekend retreats for anyone living within a few hours of the Vallée Brevon in France. Since Geneva is only an hour’s drive from this region, her retreats are ideally located for anyone here wishing to recharge their batteries and experience some time out.
Just in case you’re not sure what a retreat is, Tanya describes the meaning of the word on her website: To withdraw, retire, draw back, pull back, pull out, fall back, give way, give ground, recoil, flee, take flight, beat a retreat, beat a hasty retreat, run away, run off, make a run for it, run for it, make off, take off, take to one’s heels, make a break for it, bolt, make a quick exit, clear out, make one’s getaway, escape, or head for the hills!
Describing her own unique take on a retreat, Tanya told knowitall.ch, “Live Breathe Hike is special because it offers Singing and Hiking holidays, Yoga and Hiking, Yoga and Snowshoe retreats, and of course Hiking ! I have been guiding people in the mountains for 20 years, predominantly in the Alps, Nepal and Tuscany. I set up Live Breathe Hike 2 years ago, as I wanted to offer people a unique experience in the mountains and help them connect with their natural environment.”
Tanya’s next retreat will be held on 10-12 March 2017 in the stunning Alpine village of Bellevaux in France. Described as a Yoga and Snowshoe retreat, this special 3-day event will provide daily opportunity for snowshoe walking, exploring beautiful forest trails and mountain tracks. In addition there will be daily Hatha Yoga Classes, including dedicated time for meditation, and if the weather is warm enough there will be some mindfulness sessions during snowshoeing outings.
Tanya exclaimed, “And then there’s the food! We will experience wonderful French cuisine in our local family run hotel, Les Moineaux, and on Saturday evening you will be hosted by me in my beautiful old farmhouse dating back to 1746.”
