Last chance to buy tickets for Gingins Cricket Club’s charity event on Thursday, 25 September

The Gingins Cricket Club (GCC) is holding a fundraising gala dinner on Thursday 25 September, at which the special guest speaker will be ex-England Cricket captain, Nasser Hussain.

Money raised by the event will go towards improving the facilities of the club as well as supporting “Chance to Dream”, a kids charity created by the club’s young cricketers to provide sporting equipment to underprivileged children in more remote areas of India so that they have the chance to play the sport as well.

Founded in 2008, Gingins Cricket Club currently has over 80 junior members from La Côte region, representing many nationalities and age groups from U7 to U17. Summer training takes places at the Gingins Centre Sportif and winter training sessions are organized at sports halls in nearby schools.

The club’s young cricketers frequently participate in indoor and outdoor national and international matches. Their teams have won the Swiss National Junior Championship a number of times (both indoor and outdoor) and several of their players have been selected to represent the Swiss National Team at U11, U13, U15 and U17 level.  In 2010, GCC hosted the first international indoor cricket tournament in Switzerland - this now serves as the annual Swiss National Junior Indoor Championship.

Thanks to the kind support of their sponsors, the Crowne Plaza Geneva and Ineos, the club has been able to make some improvements to their practice facilities and equipment.  Club Co-President, Jas Saini, told knowitall.ch, “Our aim is to have a facility we can call our own, which will enable us to increase the allure and reach of cricket to more youngsters and invite other clubs to visit us for outdoor matches and tournaments.”

nasserhussainHe added, "We are especially grateful to Nasser Hussain for supporting us in our latest fundraising event. At the age of 8, Nasser became the youngest cricketer to play for Essex schools U11, and at 12 he played with the U15s.  Having played in a total of 96 test series and 88 one-day internationals, he is an inspiration to all young cricketers from around the world."

In an attempt to give less fortunate youngsters a chance to play cricket as well, a group of young cricket enthusiasts from the club founded the non-profit organization, Chance to Dream. With a minimum of adult supervision, and in between their schooling obligations and exams, the boys have raised enough money over the past few years to buy cricket kit and distribute it to small schools in areas such as Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat in North West India. 50% of donations received for the GCC fundraising event will be dedicated to “Chance to Dream” to provide even more less-fortunate kids the “chance to dream”.

The Fundraising Gala Dinner will take place on Thursday, 25 September at the Crowne Plaza, Geneva. The evening will start at 19h00 with aperitifs, sponsored by Jim’s British Market. This will be followed by a delicious, three course Indian meal with wine and coffee, all provided within an Indian Summer atmosphere. During the evening, Nasser Hussain will give his views on cricket, fellow players, and his own inspirational rise to the top spot in English Cricket. There will also be a live auction with the possibility to bid for many prestigious items.

The price of the tickets is CHF 175 per person, with 10% reduction for tables of 8. To book, please go to www.ginginscricketclub.com, or contact Joss Saini by telephone on 079 948 52 22 or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
