Often, as parents, we are looking to find that magical balance between fun and education for our kids. In the Summer time this can be especially true when we want our kids to have a great time, making the most of the weather (assuming the sunshine arrives eventually), enjoying lazy days free of the pressure of the school run and the tight week day schedules. On the other hand we don’t want our kids to lose the habit of learning and to keep their curiosity alive.
Teachers at TutorsPlus, the Geneva-based organization providing tutors throughout Switzerland, don’t feel that these two goals are mutually exclusive. When they were setting up their Summer Camp this year, they gave their teachers the challenge to create workshops that will give kids the chance to have a brilliant time, make new friends, have fun and be really creative whilst learning at the same time.
Suitable for kids aged between 9 and 14 years old, the workshops will be held in English at The British School of Geneva between 8 and 12 July. Students have the option of signing up for one long workshop running every morning between 9h00 and 12h30, and choosing between the following themes: Mad Science, Create your own Comic Strip, and Films and Movie Making. Alternatively, or in addition, kids can pick and choose from a series of short, stand-alone workshops being offered in the afternoons between 13h30 and 17h00, namely: Poetry is Fun, Have an Art Attack, Discover Archaeology, Coins and Treasures, and Survival Latin.
The long workshops are priced at Fr. 500.- per student, whilst the short workshops are priced at Fr. 100.- each. There is an additional Fr. 50.- registration fee per student. The price includes supervision during break and lunch times, as well as all material and equipment.
