HIKE IT OFF
As most everything is shut until further notice, it is hard to know what knowitall can suggest for you. One thing you can do is hike or take walks in most parks and nature reserves in the area. The canton of Geneva guarantees the free movement of hikers and takes the legal and technical measures to ensure the continuity and comfort of the routes, in particular their connection with neighboring France and the canton of Vaud.
Numerous hiking trails cross the canton and allow you to discover a very varied landscape of countryside and nature. The signposting is carried out by means of standardized signposts, rhombuses and yellow signage can be found at this link. The actual walking times are based on an average of 4.2 km per hour. All routes can be reached by public transportation.
Don't forget to have a look in our 11th edition of Know-it-all passport® for the Aubonne Arboretum page 127 to general parks from page 329.

SKI AREAS
Ski areas (e.g. transport installations with ski slopes) may only be opened if authorized by the canton. The criteria for a canton to grant authorisation include, in particular, the availability of the necessary capacity in healthcare facilities and an epidemiological situation that permits the opening of the ski areas. You will find further information at this link.

SHOPS AND SERVICES
From 6-22 January 2020 (possibly longer)
The opening hours of most businesses and service facilities are restricted. This concerns, for example, shops, post offices, banks, and hairdressers. Businesses must close at 19h and all day on Sundays. This applies to Cornavin train station and Cointrin Airport shopping as well. Even if you are able to find a gas station that is open on Sunday, they might not sell you cigarettes nor food items on a Sunday.
Exceptions: These restrictions do not apply to pharmacies and bakeries, healthcare facilities including hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices, offices and facilities run by healthcare professionals, social services’ offices, public administration offices and police stations, public transport company counters, car rental and equestrian centers. Click here for more information.
