After 20 months of renovation work, representing an investment of 40 million francs, the 4-star Crowne Plaza Geneva has secured its place, once again, as one of the top attractions in Geneva for businessmen, tourists, and local Swiss residents.
Ideally situated just 500m from the airport and Palexpo, 2km from the United Nations, and 3km from the city centre, the Crowne Plaza Geneva has now been completely modernized and extended, with an additional 2 floors offering outstanding views over one of the most dynamic business quarters of Geneva. The new floors were officially unveiled at a series of special launch events held at the hotel last month.
A new steel and glass structure on top of the hotel, designed by the Geneva architect, Alain Carlier, now houses an additional 60 bedrooms and club suites, as well as a club lounge and meeting room, ideal for business clients. All rooms, including the existing 306 bedrooms and suites on the lower floors, have been elegantly decorated according to the vision of the celebrated Taiwanese interior designer, Celia Chu.
To complete the new contemporary look throughout the hotel, the reception and lobby have also been refurbished in their own unique but complementary style, along with the main bar and restaurant. Not only has it been completely recreated with a warm and relaxing atmosphere, La Récolte restaurant also has a new name, Seventy5, and a new menu, offering refined, urban cusine, using seasonal local produce, at very attractive prices. (I tried the Business Lunch, which was absolutely delicious and represents excellent value for money at just Fr. 25.- per head for a 2 course meal).
A large communal table is a great feature for single guests who prefer not to dine alone. On Sundays, the Seventy5 continues to offer its popular brunch for families, which includes a delicious buffet meal catering for all ages and tastes. Entertainers are on hand to keep the kids amused with games and activities, whilst parents relax amongst themselves and enjoy the food! Click here to read our article about the former La Récolte family brunch, which followed much the same format.
Open from 7h00 to midnight, the adjoining Bar ensures that there is always food on hand for the hotel’s guests. In the afternoon, tapas is served - a welcome addition to the menu according to local businessmen who come to the Crowne Plaza to socialize with colleagues after work.
There is also a second restaurant, Le Jardin, offering an alternative menu, and which has great appeal in the Summer with its attractive outdoor terraced area.
In addition to its bedroom and dining facilities, the Crowne Plaza Geneva boasts a huge conference center, with 18 modular function rooms able to accommodate up to 1200 people for both private and professional events such as conferences, weddings, anniversaries, fashion shows, wine tastings, gala evenings and business lunches.
The hotel also offers a fitness center for its clients, as well as a sauna and hairdressing salon. Underground parking is an added bonus for those traveling in their own cars, but there is a free bus to the airport, as well as taxi and bus stops just outside the hotel for those using public transport.
