A new cookery school has just opened in Nyon, offering a wide variety of culinary workshops, in both French and English.
Conveniently located in the new arcade opposite the Nyon cinema, Les Papilles à la Fête, is offering classes for aspiring chefs of all ages, at times that should suit everyone from moms with kids, through to busy professionals.
Asked why she decided to set up the new school, Céline Chevalley told knowitall.ch, “As a trained chef, I have always been passionate about cooking, and am always looking for new ways in which to share my recipes and skills with others, especially young children. My philosophy is simple: people should be able to learn to cook in a way that enables them to reproduce one of my recipes at home.”
Over the past few months we have been receiving a number of tempting invitations to join qualified wine expert, Simon Hardy of Fitting Wines, at a series of Wine Tasting Adventures to discover great-tasting wines from around the world.
Each wine-tasting event, which is open to the general public, has a special theme covering anything from “Revealing Red with a Difference” and “The Diverse World of Chardonnay” through to “Great Sparkling Wines of the World” and “Exceptional Wines to Distinguish your Cellar”. Venues at each end of the lake vary from the intimate Caveau Orpheus in Lutry and the striking wine cellar at the Mercedes-Benz / Bentley Garage Beau-Rivage in Lausanne to a private vaulted cellar beneath the bastions in Geneva. Each event lasts for three hours and includes a guided tasting of all the wines lasting at least one hour. Guests have the opportunity to learn more about each of the wines, the regions and the grape varieties as well as to find out which wines make the best match for which foods. What’s more, you can keep trying any of the wines as often and as much as you like!

Swiss retail and wholesale bakery, Peace Foods, is offering clients an all-inclusive, food delivery service that means your entire meal – right down to the aperitifs and side dishes – can be delivered to your door, either Ready to Eat (hot out of the oven) or Ready to Heat (just heat and serve).
According to Peace Foods founder, Linda Vogel, all turkeys are natural, free range, Swiss turkeys, brined for 24 hours, and then slow-roasted to ensure they are deliciously juicy and flavorful. But if you don’t fancy turkey, you can also choose from honey-glazed gammon or Irish Angus beef instead.
A new food delivery service has recently opened in Rolle, targeting both residential and corporate inhabitants. Called Venezvite, the new online service will enable customers to order food from a curated list of restaurants, cafés and eateries, catering for a wide range of culinary tastes.
Adjowii Özdemir, Founding Partner of Venezvite, told knowitall.ch, “Venezvite was born out of a need - a hunger if you like – for a website where one could go and have at one's fingertips, an approved list of restaurants offering delivery or take-away in the Lac Léman region. One of the luxuries that residents in the region soon come to miss from their everyday life, particularly those expatriated from larger cosmopolitan areas, is a sense of "convenience" associated with food.”
She added, “Having experienced the same frustration ourselves, my co-founder, Addia Cooper-Henry, and I decided that we should create that place where people could go to find great restaurants, to order from their menus online and have their food prepared and ready for pick-up or delivery in minutes. We are a small, but growing, company with a hearty appetite for achieving and maintaining customer satisfaction.”
