A new discount card / restaurant guide has been launched, which will give members 50% off a meal for two at some of the best international restaurants in Geneva.
Priced at just Fr. 85.-, Eat The World will allow you to dine for half price the first time you visit any of the restaurants represented by the new scheme. The aim of the discount card is to act as a guide, tempting users to experience for themselves the vast cultural diversity of Geneva’s highest ranking restaurants.
Each of the international restaurants has been carefully selected for the talent and passion of its chefs. Their reputation and standing within the local community has been key in determining which restaurants to include from each country.
The new card has been launched by Cyril Brungger and Cédric Haeberli, the same two people who brought BodyPass to Switzerland – a highly successful discount app for the phone, launched initially as a card, that gives members immediate access to 150 of the best spas, institutes and hair salons in Switzerland and neighboring France, all at half price. You can read more about this card in our article here.
Cyril Brungger, told knowitall.ch, “We have created the Eat The World guide to value the gastronomic and cultural diversity of our city. We also wanted to highlight those restauranteurs from elsewhere, who are the pride of Geneva today. The chefs are proud to be the culinary representatives of their country. The guide allows members to travel around the world by trying 30 selected restaurants at half price.”
The Eat The World guide is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. It works very simply as follows:
- Choose your destination and your restaurant, i.e. the gastronomic ambassador for that country.
- Mention the number of your card when you make your booking.
- Let your palette, your senses and your spirit rejoice as you enjoy your meal!
- Present your Eat The World card when you pay.
- Pay just half the bill (excluding drinks).
There are a few conditions to using the card:
- Eat The World members must mention their card number when making a reservation. If not, the restaurants have the right to not apply the discount (excluding drinks) on the final bill , should they wish.
- Restaurants have the right to limit the number of Eat The Card members they accept during holiday and weekend periods.
- The Eat The World discount is only valid at tables where two people are dining.
- There is a minimum order of a “chargeable” drink, as well as a starter and main dish, or main dish and dessert.
Restaurants are divided into 4 main regional categories: Africa, South America, Asia and Europe. Within each category, you can choose a specific country, and within each country you can select an “ambassador” – a Geneva-based restaurant renowned for its gastronomic cuisine from that region.
At the time of writing, the Eat The World website has 21 countries (Ethiopia, Morocco, Senegal, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Afghanistan, China, Korean, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Switzerland) represented by 30 different restaurants. Under each restaurant listing there is a picture of the chef s) and the restaurant, along with a short biography and description, plus any speciality dishes. If there are any special conditions these are also mentioned.
The Eat The World guide can be purchased directly from their website for the cost of Fr. 85.-at: https://eat-the-world.ch/panier/. The guide will be delivered to the address indicated on the bill – however, it is possible to change the name on the card if you plan to offer it as a gift. Please note that the card is non-transferrable, so you can’t lend it to your friends! However, when you consider that the money you save on your first or second visit will more than cover the cost of your card, then we feel sure your friends will want to buy their own anyway!
