According to personal fitness coach, Gregory Tochon-Dangy, fitness training should be fun! To prove his case, Greg is offering knowitall.ch readers 10% off their own personal fitness training program, if they sign up with him before the end of June!

So who is Greg and what can he do for you?

Greg first went into a fitness center when he was 15. Like thousands of people, he started going to the gym to look better and more athletic. For years, he used all the machines he could, from those for the chest to those for abs. His routine was a classic one - one day/one muscle.

But after a while, he realized it was boring. Training just to look like an athlete was not motivating him anymore, he needed something more.  So he started to train to improve his health and his lifestyle. His workouts no longer only focused on muscles (chest or back...) but on movements too. He realized he didn’t need massive arms or pecs for everyday life but he did need a strong core and efficient movements. So now, he does what his body should do: Pushing, pulling, jumping, lifting, running, carrying...

Asked how he got into coaching people, Greg told knowitall.ch, “Since 2013, I have been a personal trainer in a commercial gym in Geneva. But, last September, I set up my own business as well, because I realized that, for different reasons, lots of people don’t go to the gym. So, now I can help my clients everywhere, whether it be outside (Geneva has some beautiful parks for working out), in their own living room or even at their office - this is limitless.”

He added, “My goal is to help my clients to feel better and improve their quality of life. Most of them are not athletes, they are just like you and me, often parents and hard workers with a busy schedule. Working out is not their priority but even if they are short of time, they still want to take care of their health. Their goals are not to run faster than Usain Bolt or lift heavy weights, they just want to be able to enjoy their everyday life - carry their children, climb the stairs without being out of breath, ski all day long, run a couples of kilometers, lose weight... and look better at the beach (honestly, don’t you?). For this reason, I never use machines with my guests. At their office, at home or in their car, they spend enough time sitting. As a fitness coach, my goal is not to let them spend time sitting on a machine but to make them move.”

How does Greg help people get results?

Greg focuses mainly on two aspects - core training and movements. The first one because he is convinced that the core is the most important part of the body to train in order to avoid pain, and the second because every human is made to move.

He believes there are 3 important things he has to do to help his clients get results.

    •    Offer a personal service
    •    Motivate
    •    LET THEM HAVE FUN

According to Greg, the last point is probably the most crucial because if you have had a long and stressful day at work, it’s important to have fun while working out. Fitness is not a passion for everyone but it’s always easier to do something when you are having fun. If Greg wants his clients to give their best, they have to be happy to be there. Moving is important to be healthy but smiling is probably more important (and, like you, he hates spending time with grumpy people!) At the end of a session, Greg wants his clients to be happy with their workouts and proud of themselves. If they go out of their comfort zone and do it with pleasure, it means they are on the right track to reaching their goals.

If you want to get a better idea of Greg’s training style, he has lots of videos on his fitness blog, showing various metabolic training exercises that you can do at home.  Whilst the instructions are provided in French, the exercises are all clearly demonstrated so you should have no problems following the routines!

Rest assured, Greg speaks English fluently so you can’t use lack of French language skills as an excuse not to sign up!  If you would like more information on how Greg can help you – either with one-to-one coaching or group training -  please contact him directly using the contact details below.

If you’re still not sure that personal fitness training is the thing for you, this is what one client, Laura Hall, had to say about Greg. “It has been my good fortune, over the last 18 months, to have had Greg as a personal trainer and I am extremely pleased with the service Greg provides and the improvements in my fitness levels and general well-being. I have always enjoyed training in the gym but working with Greg has inspired me to push myself further and take on new challenges. Since training with Greg I have completed two spartan races - obstacle courses in the mud - something I never would have considered myself capable of! He has instilled a new level of confidence of my own abilities.”

Laura added, “I have found Gregory to be a dedicated and reliable professional with a friendly and relaxed demeanour (not intimidating!) who has an excellent knowledge and understanding of fitness and nutrition. He works hard to make each training different and interesting using lots of different techniques and styles while always considering my specific needs. He speaks fluent English which was a real blessing when I first arrived in Geneva. I would highly recommend Greg as a personal trainer to anyone, whether they are an experienced gym goer or are new to the gym environment.”
