A new French-speaking nursery has opened in Luins for children aged 2 and half years old up to school entry age.
Called “Les Coloriés, the nursery was founded in September 2016 by the Director, Mélanie Deluz, an experienced “Educatrice de l‘Enfance”, who has worked at numerous crèches in the region, including Begnins, Geneva, Versoix and La Rippe.
Talking about her new project in Luins, Mélanie told knowitall.ch, “I have had the opportunity throughout my career to work in several different crèches, each of which has followed a specific, highly regarded pedagogical approach. In setting up my own nursery, I find myself in the unique position of being able to pick and choose the best of those approaches. When creating my own program, I have taken into consideration those aspects, which I think are most helpful to children learning to socialise with others in a collective, safe environment, and which encourage learning through play.”
In practice, this means that Mélanie has created a programme which, according to her, adopts the best practices from the Montessori, La Pédagogie Active, and Emmi Pickler methods of learning. Mélanie has had experience of working with all three of these pedagogies in her *** years of working in local nurseries.
As a totally French-speaking nursery, Les Coloriés is an ideal option for international parents, who want their children to feel as comfortable speaking French as they do their native language. Children are encouraged to speak French to each other at the nursery, rather than searching out others who might speak their native language!
This is what one new parent told knowitall.ch after her child started at the nursery in September, "Je suis ravie de constater à quel point mon fils est content d'aller au jardin. Mme Deluz propose des activités variées et adaptées à mon fils et ses camarades, dans un cadre attrayant, elle s'applique au bon déroulement de la journée, au confort et aux besoins des enfants. Je recommande vivement ce jardin d'enfant."
Parents can choose from either a morning or afternoon placement for their child, both of which last around 2 and a half hours, with options to extend either session if required. In addition to the standard nursery programme, Mélanie also runs a special creative class for children on Thursdays, and a special story time on Mondays. Sign language classes are offered for parents who wish to communicate with children who are not yet speaking, and there is a new class for future Dads to help them prepare for parenthood.
Located close to the vineyards of Luins, the nursery is just a few minutes’ drive from the Gland exit on the A1 autoroute. The public can also rent the premises for birthdays on Wednesday afternoons or weekends, with or without a teacher present.
During the half term holidays, Mélanie also has one of the most ambitious programs of activities that we have seen for young kids aged 4 to 10 years old, which includes trips to many of the local attractions in the region. These include:

- Le Temps des Dinosaures exhibition at Palexpo
