The deadline is fast approaching for any students wishing to apply for a scholarship to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at the GEMS World Academy Switzerland (GWAS) international day school in Etoy, Vaud. Applications should be submitted by Monday, 13 March 2017.
Any day-student considering entering the IB Diploma Programme at GWAS in September 2017 is eligible to apply for this special scholarship offer, which is awarded for the two years covering Grades 11 and 12. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, however special talents in the arts or sport will also be taken into consideration.
These merit-based scholarships will provide families with a welcome reduction in tuition fees from 10% up to 100% for both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
The GWAS IB Diploma Programme gives 16- to 18-year students a unique opportunity to excel academically, while also focusing on their social, emotional and physical wellbeing. Like all the school’s IB programmes, it encourages students to learn independently, embrace responsibility, and be more analytical and open-minded. The school believes this offers students the perfect grounding to become well-rounded, successful global citizens.
The IB Diploma is widely recognised by colleges and universities around the world as excellent preparation for students to succeed at post-secondary institutions.
The GWAS rich merit-based scholarship programme is not limited to IB Diploma students. Indeed the school encourages students from Grade 6 upwards to apply for a scholarship if they demonstrate outstanding ability and qualities in any of the following areas: academics, arts, music, sports, technology and entrepreneurship. As with the IB Diploma Programme, these scholarships will cover a reduction in tuition fees ranging from 10% to 100%.
GWAS Head of School, Catherine McKeever, told knowitall.ch, “The aim of these scholarships is to reward and encourage excellence by developing outstanding achievement and potential. Scholarship students also help enrich the school by sharing their skills and achievements with the wider community.”
She continued, “If a child demonstrates excellence or potential, we would be delighted to help nurture their talent and provide them with the ongoing support and training they need to flourish."
