Has it already been 13 years since knowitall published an article about the Swedish International School of Geneva (SISOG) at this link?
Well now they are celebrating their 50th anniversary with several exciting changes! Known for its unique blend of play-based learning and academic rigor since 1974, SISOG has been nurturing young minds in Geneva since.
Now offering a bilingual curriculum in two streams: English/French and Swedish/French, it is located in the new Les Vergers neighborhood of Meyrin. The school provides a safe, dynamic environment where students age 1-12 are encouraged to grow both academically and personally.
With a play-based learning philosophy rooted in Swedish educational values, SISOG offers a holistic educational experience that prepares children for the future. From the first days of preschool to the end of primary school, students benefit from an engaging and nurturing environment that balances structured learning with creative exploration.
Full-Day Consistent Care
SISOG understands the needs of modern families. It provides full-day consistent care from 8h-18h20 each day. This schedule ensures that parents have peace of mind, knowing their children are in a secure, stimulating environment even after the school day ends. From early morning activities to after-school programs, SISOG supports children’s learning, development, and well-being throughout the entire day.
New Leadership
SISOG is proud to announce a leadership transition that aligns with its ongoing mission of fostering a strong partnership between home and school.
Lotta Bartosch, newly appointed Principal and General Director, brings to the leadership team and the school the Swedish “Red Thread.” With extensive experience as a school Principal in Sweden, Lotta places high value on fostering collaboration between parents and teachers, thereby empowering each child to reach their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Sabber Benhamma, Head of Preschool and Vice Principal, has been with SISOG for several years and is committed to continuing the school's tradition of excellence in early childhood education. His hands-on approach ensures that every child in the preschool program feels valued and nurtured.
Laura Trémouille, Head of Primary and After School programmes, has also been a vital part of the SISOG team for many years. She is dedicated to ensuring that the primary school students receive a well-rounded education that balances academic rigor with emotional and social development.
Shaina Alarcón, Academic Coordinator, has been at SISOG since 2018. Her role as academic coordinator ensures a consistency in academic excellence from the very first days in the Vasa class for 1 year olds, to our graduating students at 12 years of age in 8P.
Meyrin's Les Vergers Neighborhood
Teachers and staff gather at the start of the 2024-2025 school year in Meyrin's Ecoquartier Les Vergers, where the school is located.
In 2017, SISOG relocated to Les Vergers neighborhood in Meyrin, a modern, well-connected location. The school, situated near CERN and several international organizations, is easily accessible by public transport, making it a convenient choice for parents working in or around Geneva. The school now occupies four spaces in this vibrant area, reflecting its continued growth.
Refreshed online presence
In its 50th year, SISOG has launched a refreshed website (www.sisog.ch) and updated its social media channels. The new online presence showcases, for both current and prospective families, SISOG’s unique community and offers a window into daily school life, offering an in-depth look at what makes the school so special.
School guided by core values
At the heart of SISOG are its five guiding values: Community, Commitment, Equality, Empathy, and Love of Learning. These principles are embedded in every aspect of the school day, from classroom activities to playground interactions. SISOG believes that nurturing these values not only prepares students for academic success but also equips them with the emotional and social tools they need to thrive in today’s interconnected world.
