blockchain

Echoing the impressive surge of questions around Blockchain in Switzerland and more widely internationally, Palexpo SA, in close liaison with the canton of Geneva, is organizing the 1st Geneva Annual Blockchain Congress. This annual independent Congress will be held on January 21st, in the Palexpo Congress Center. Its purpose is to offer the region's decision-makers a day of reflection on this new "great technology". Its title from lab to market will be illustrated by the presentation of Blockchain solutions applicable in four sectors of activity: identity and e-government; Education; FinTech Commodity trading; and supply chain.

The next digital revolution is at our doorstep. After the Internet, which has transformed our societies in depth, Blockchain is in the process of becoming one of the pillars of our economy of tomorrow. Figurehead of the "Crypto Lake", the canton of Geneva has already initiated several pioneer projects – both internal and external – in this field.

Geneva, French-speaking Switzerland, and more broadly Switzerland, offer a unique platform thanks to the richness of its economic ecosystem and the quality of the actions carried out by academic researchers, start-ups, not forgetting the support and involvement of Government. As stated by Claude Membrez, Director General of Palexpo SA, "Palexpo has the mission to offer a neutral discussion and networking space for professionals, to inform current economic, technological and social trends, and to valuing Geneva and its region." The holding of the Geneva Annual Blockchain Congress will only strengthen this position.

High-flying speakers have been lined up for a promising first edition

  • Don Tapscott, Co-founder and president of the Blockchain Research Institute (CA)
  • Patrick Odier, associate of Banque Lombard Odier (CH)
  • Daniel Haudenschild, CEO of Swisscom Blockchain (CH)
  • Jarod Koopman, director of cybercrime, Internal revenue Services, Criminal Investigation (USA)
  • Carlos Moreira, CEO WISeKey (CH)

The speakers will present their vision of the Blockchain revolution alongside 30 other speakers. Their mission: to present concrete and applicable blockchain solutions in four sectors of activity:

  • Identity and e-government
  • Education
  • FinTech
  • Commodity trading and supply chain.

From Lab to Market
Aimed at private, public and international organizations, this Congress will present the concrete applications of Blockchain solutions and study their consequences on the business models of the market economy.

A premiere at Palexpo: the Blockchain box office
Blockchain equals secure ticketing; SecuTix (Swiss International company, ticket management specialist) and Palexpo SA combine to offer a Blockchain ticket to the Congress. Frédéric Longat, CEO SecuTix, says the mobile box office based on Blockchain technology will profoundly transform the industry. Indeed, the complete digitalization of the process of marketing event tickets will force the players of the secondary market to adapt to the new paradigm. This will result in greater security for both event organizers and the public throughout their clients' journey.

The Geneva Annual Blockchain Congress is supported by a steering committee from the public and private sector:

The history of Blockchain
Technology or Revolution, Blockchain is buzzing all over the world. Defined as a technology for storing and transmitting information, transparent, secure, and operating without a central control body, the first Blockchain appeared in 2008 with the Bitcoin digital currency, developed by an unknown SE Under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It is the underlying architecture. If Blockchain and Bitcoin were built together, today many players (companies, governments, etc.) are considering the use of Blockchain technology for other cases than digital currency.
