Zoé4life, a registered non-profit organization based in the Suisse Romande region, is hosting a special event in the beautiful lake-side town of Rolle on 1 October 2016. Called Day4Life, this team-building and family-friendly event will mark the end of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, during which many awareness activities will take place, including the illumination in gold of Geneva’s Jet d’eau for the 4th year in a row.
To help them prepare for this day of solidarity, the charity organizers are asking local businesses to offer their support by becoming a partner in the event. There is a large range of sponsorship opportunities, to suit all budget levels. For example, for Fr. 200.-, businesses can have their logo printed on placemats that will be distributed in local cafés and restaurants from July 2016 onwards. For Fr. 10,000.- organizations can expect to receive a full package of benefits including: their logo on banners, posters, and flyers; a logo and link back to their website from the charity website supporting the event: a company booth at the event: and last, but not least, the option to take part in a great team-building event, all in the name of a great cause.
You can see the full range of options by downloading the sponsorship package here.
The event on 1 October will be in 2 main parts:
Zoé's Village
Zoé’s battle with cancer ended in 26 October 2013, two days before her 5th birthday. She loved to laugh, but even more than that, she loved to have fun, see people, play, and live every moment of her life to the fullest. Zoé’s Village, which will be set up in the courtyard in front of the historic Rolle Castle, will represent that joy for life, a place where people can come to meet-up, share a meal or a drink, spend time together, or take part in one of the many activities for all ages. Some of the many events and activities will include:
- Evening concert by the popular local group « Les Pseudos »
- Capoeira initiation and demonstration
- Zumba for kids and Zumba for adults
- Cupcake workshop for kids (The Melazic Kingdom)
- Information booths about Zoé4life and other partners
- Food and beverage booths
Zoé's Challenge
A team-building event like no other – fun, challenging, lightly competitive but accessible to anyone – this is the event to sign up for to show that together, you can make a difference.
Based on the principles of an orienteering race, this event will see two dozen teams of four to eight people each competing, using maps and clues, to find their way to special posts throughout Rolle as they race to complete the challenge. They will encounter various obstacles, tests and trials and will ultimately make their way back to Zoé’s Village for one last challenge.
To help us understand the work of the charity, Zoé4Life volunteer, Nicole Scobie, gave knowitall.ch some facts about childhood cancer:
- Roughly 300 kids will be diagnosed with cancer in Switzerland every year
- Treatments often last for years, with an average of 100 days per year at the hospital
- In most cases, health insurance does not cover all treatment related expenses
- Every week, in Switzerland, a child dies from cancer
- More than half of children who are cured will have long-term side effects
So how does the Zoé4Life charity help children with cancer? Nicole told us, “The aim of the charity is to support research, and provide financial support to families in need, in particular supporting kids during their treatments. Zoé4Life is made up entirely of volunteers, and has raised Fr. 280,000.- over the last 2 years to help fund specific research protocols for kids in Switzerland, and a further Fr. 150,000.- to support families during their child’s long months of treatment. All donations are tax deductible under Swiss law.”
She added, “By becoming a partner in this event, organizations can have a direct impact on treatments and support programs available to kids with cancer in Switzerland. They can demonstrate their solidarity and corporate responsibility on a local level, and take part in a team-building event which will strengthen bonds between employees! As Zoé4life’s motto states: Together, we can make a difference!”
