In addition, the reception area (ticket office, shop, cloakroom) is limited to 4 people. With a view to raising cultural awareness in times of crisis, the City of Lausanne offers you free admission to the four museums communal until 7 June 2020. A stone's throw from the lake, in the green setting of a Mediterranean-style garden, the Roman museum houses the remains of a rich ancient residence and presents, in its permanent exhibition, the archaeological furniture discovered on the site of Lousonna. The numerous archaeological finds at the Vidy site paint a vivid picture of a Gallo-Roman settlement on the shores of Lacus Lemannus. Like the Swiss of today, the Swiss of that time were going through a period of profound change. They were part of the Roman Empire 15 years BC and now belong to a new world, centred on the Mediterranean. And life quickly changed: the use of Latin and writing spread; new technologies (masonry, tiles, glass, blown glass...) and previously unknown imported goods (olive oil, seafood, dates, marble, lead...) changed daily life. The empire is a common market, served by a single currency and an efficient road and river network. Musée Romain de Lausanne-Vidy
