Enjoy a convivial dinner with friends at a special performance of "A Little Night Music", on show at the Salle des Fêtes in Founex, between 11 and 13 June 2015.
Directed by Deborah and Luke Vorhies, the performance is brought to you by the Geneva Amateur Operatic Society and features a number of talented local singers, many of whom you will have seen in previous GAOS shows.
With its first word, “Remember?”, A Little Night Music will take you into an era of sparkling wit, elegance and enchantment. Based on Ingmar Bergman’s film, “Smiles of a Summer Night”, this charming comedy features the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, including his haunting melody, “Send in the Clowns”.
Set in Sweden in the summer of 1900, the story centers on a tangled web of romantic affairs involving the lives of several couples spending the weekend at the country estate of Désirée Armfeldt, a once elegant and popular actress, but who is now reduced to touring in small towns. As the story unfolds, see what happens when the web untangles…but remember, the summer night must smile three times: first on the young, second on fools, and third on the old!
A themed dinner will be served at 7pm, before the show,and will consist of: Mixed salad; Hungarian beef goulash with vegetables and potatoes (or spinach and ricotta lasagne for vegetarians); Apple strudel with vanilla sauce (dessert served during the interval). Reasonably priced beverages may be purchased separately.
Dinner tickets, priced at Fr. 60.- each, must be reserved in advance from the Theatre in English website at www.theatreinenglish.ch. It is also possible to buy tickets for the balcony only, without dinner, on the the night of each performance for just Fr. 30.-
