French National Holidays around Lake Geneva
Along its 58km, the French shore of Lake Geneva is always a little more lively as summer approaches, and more particularly around July 14th. Proud to commemorate the storming of the Bastille, the towns and villages of Haute-Savoie put on their most beautiful festive clothes and enchant the whole of Lake Geneva!

No successful July 14th would be complete without a beautiful firework display!

The two spa resorts of Thonon-les-Bains and Evian-les-Bains, as well as the town of Sciez, have understood this well: each year, they organize a colorful show to close the national holiday in beauty.

Special mention to Evian-les-Bains, which turns off all its lights to make the most of the fireworks shot from a barge off Lake Geneva.

Elsewhere, the evening is more traditional and the pyrotechnic magic shares the stage with much more discreet lights. The communes of Douvaine and Divonne-les-Bains each organize a torchlight procession, before enjoying the ball and the fireworks. Same traditional atmosphere in Yvoire, where the 14th of July gathers young and old around a fanfare and a lantern parade, illuminating the old medieval stones. A popular ball and a fireworks display off the coast usually close the day.
