PROTECT 2022
Raising Parental Awareness Against Child Abuse, and Child Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking

Candlelighters International and a range of local and international partners are organising, on May 14th & 15th, 2022, a multilingual virtual expert conference “PROTECT 2022”. The conference aims at raising parental awareness on the abuse, sexual exploitation, and trafficking of children.
The overall goal of the conference is to arm parents with practical information and tools for activating protective measures for their child and/or home. It also aspires to encourage dialogue between parents and increase their awareness of available resources.
According to the Swissinfo.ch article of June 13, 2018, “2% - 3.3% of children living in Switzerland are referred to a child protection agency every year, corresponding to 30,000 to 50,000 children annually.” The article indicated that of this number, 22.4% were child abuse cases, 18.7% had witnessed domestic violence,
and 15.2% had suffered from sexual abuse. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), between 2019 – 2020, online enticement for sexual exploitation of children rose by 97.5% globally.
PROTECT 2022 wishes to unite forces with those fighting against such evil menace attacking our children, homes, and marriages.
