ORCHESTRE DE CHAMBRE DE LAUSANNE: ANJA BIHLMAIER - KIT ARMSTRONG
Wednesday 12 January 2022

Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne OCL

Kit Armstrong and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (OCL) perform Clyne, Saint-Saëns and Mendelssohn on January 12 and 13, 2022 at the Salle Métropole, Lausanne, as part of the Grands concerts.

There is, in the reforming act, as much fidelity as violence. Mendelssohn will make this clear in his Fifth Symphony: the form is sometimes disrupted, but is crowned by a victorious chorale - in a direct dialogue with Bach, whom the Romantic composer is helping to rediscover.

The other pieces in this beautiful program are also works of reformation. Saint-Saëns' Second Concerto, in particular, reinvents piano writing borrowing from the old organ masters, which Kit Armstrong, a young pianist acclaimed for his interpretations of the Cantor, will rediscover and sublimate.

Also featuring the Swiss premiere of Stride, a new composition by Anna Clyne, co-commissioned by the OCL.

Program:
Anna Clyne, Stride (co-commissioned by the OCL, Swiss premiere)

Camille Saint-Saëns, Piano Concerto No. 2

Felix Mendelssohn, Symphony No. 5, Reformation
Anja Bihlmaier, conductor
Kit Armstrong, piano

Location Lausanne, VD
