Organized since 1960 initially under the name "Rallye du Vin", this international car rally with 18 stages and more than 200km of timed events, is one of the biggest events in the Swiss Championship and has found its place among the most highly rated European car rallies.
Every year, the Rallye International du Valais attracts more and more Swiss riders who compete on a Valais playground that can sometimes be tricky. The most successful of them is the Jura rider Olivier Burri, who has won 8 races to his credit.
The Valaisans are not lagging behind, as many of them have added their names to the highly prized list of winners of the oldest round of the Swiss Championship. Philippe Roux with his 3 victories is ahead of Jean-Marie and Sébastien Carron, father and son, with one victory each.
