Wednesday, 28 November 2018, 17:00 – 19:30 Session Description: Our modern workplace is always-on-the-go, constantly connected and increasingly complex. Our clients demand from us immediate responses, and our superiors expect us to deliver results and be available upon demand. This places substantial pressure on employees, increasing the risks of stress and burnout, that can be very costly both to the employee and to the business. Resilience mitigates these risks. It liberates our employees’ talent and competences and enables them to be effective and create value for the company. Employers are increasingly recognising that performance and engagement can be affected by a worker’s state of mind. Given the direct relationship between negative stress, wellness and productivity, they understand the damage that stress can do to the company. This includes lost productivity due to attrition, staff turnover and absenteeism. A panel of the leading experts in their field will help us understand what resilience is, what are the mechanisms underlying it and what are the factors associated with it. We will explore whether companies can develop and cultivate practices to build resilience in the workplace, and ultimately enhance success. http://events.webster.edu/event/resilience_in_the_workplace |
