From Friday 12 October 2018
To Sunday 14 October 2018

sonnailles

Saturday and Sunday from 9h30 (weather permitting).

When the cows are led back down from the alpine summer pastures, the autumn fair brings together cattle breeders, farmers and cowbell fans. 10,000 visitors from Western Switzerland attend this event on Esplanade de Chambaillard above Romainmôtier to admire a few creations and to taste a host of terroir products. There will also be a stand selling cow bells, old and new models in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

LES SONNAILLES 2018 ROMAINMOTIER and the NOZON VALLEY
OCTOBER 12th – 14th, 2018

Friday October 12th from 12 noon to 9 p.m. – Saturday October 13th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Sunday October 14th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LES SONNAILLES 2018: Here is the new name for this event, for the next 20 years! 21st edition – 21st century: situated between modernity and tradition.

LES SONNAILLES 2018, a new name born with the 2017 poster and which had actually already become the popular name with the public and exhibitors. So farewell to the old name, « Foire d’automne et Bourse suisse aux cloches et sonnailles » and welcome to LES SONNAILLES !

A new name, a different poster – a new creation by Julian Willis – and the same unchanged team to welcome you, with the joyful music of the Echo du Nozon Brass Band and their friends, here are all the ingredients needed for the local fair which is yours.

The new poster presents three mythical places in the Alps, the Préalps and the Jura, three areas where the bells are still strongly anchored. These ringing bells, the emblems and pride of this world where the cattle are still brought to the high pastures in the spring and returned to the valleys in the autumn, of poyas, of remuages, of fights which determine the hierarchy of the herd and of mid-summer festivals still allow us to dream and be possibly just a bit nostalgic.

The 2018 bell of LES SONNAILLES repeats the three views of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau, the Moléson and the Dent de Vaulion, colored on two bells, either the 13-pound bell named „The Madeleine“ or the 12, a bass. With the half-bass 11 from 2017, we discover the beginnings of a battery of mixed, stirring sounds which „rebouillent l’âme“.
Tradition still obviously takes centre stage in Romainmôtier. There are animations every day with over one hundred exhibitors who look forward to presenting their products and creations to you, winemakers and dynamic brewers who will all be happy to surprise you, and as always new and second-hand bells of all sizes and shapes, leatherwork, wines, local products, fruit and vegetables and of course culture, books, a flea market and antiques, information about tourism and hiking, agriculture and the forest, crafts and last but not least the constantly evolving world of organic agriculture.

Entry fee CHF 5.-, thank you for your support! (Valid 3 days, free entry for children)

Pergolas – heated outdoor canteens, open Friday and Saturday evenings until late !

Parades of the herds of cattle on Saturday and Sunday, from 9.30 a.m., weather permitting.
