DESALPE 2018: ETIVAZ
Saturday 29 September 2018

desalpe etivaz

https://etivaz-aop.ch/fr/la-desalpe.html

Etivaz cheese resembles Gruyère cheese.

On the 29th of September 2018 the village of L’Etivaz will be celebrating the descent of the herds of cows, returning to their stables for the winter after spending the summer up on the alpine pastures. Proudly decked out with flowers and their finest bells, the cows will pass in procession to the applause of the public, and for the delight of the cheesemakers and herdsmen.

You are invited to come and take part in the désalpe in L’Etivaz, an event which combines Swiss mountain traditions with local specialities and joie de vivre. There will be a large variety of entertainments provided. You can also be the first to taste the first wheels of L’Etivaz AOP cheese produced in the summer of 2018, straight from the ripening cellars.

From 8 am onwards, passage of the herds, different folk animations and handicraft market.
From 7 pm onwards, raclette below the canteen, musical entertainment provided by a traditional country band.

Entry fees: CHF 5.-/adult, free for children up to 16

Free shuttle service to L’Etivaz.
– Leaving from L'Arsat (free parking between Les Mosses and La Lécherette)
– Leaving from Château-d’Oex (opposite the bookshop and from the grounds of Landi at the bottom of the village, free parking).
